There's a huge gnarly auger on the end of that drilling attachment. He drills a minute, then pulls it up with the dirt in the auger and spins the dirt out in a dump truck. I was told the dimensions for the post holes so I didn't have to measure anything. The casings are also much easier to measure while they are laying down on the ground with no holes in sight <grin>

Ok gotcha. The ground screws are now just becoming popular, to eliminate augering or pile driving.

Maes also said no student fees will be used to pay for any part of the lighting. The payment will be made from ticket sales, sponsorship revenue and NCAA and Big Sky Conference revenue.

What Big sky conference revenue? Montana gets jack shit from the big sky others sponge off us. UM pays for the lights at PSU, ISU, SUU, NCU, etc but we aint getting jack shit from them in football revenue or any other sport for that matter. I defy anyone to show the huge revenue boost the big suck has given UM in the last 5 years.

How much did we/UM pay in playoff ticket sales to the NCAA? My guess is WAY THE HELL MORE than we recieved from our weak ass conference in money over the entire year. This conference is little more than a junior high school when it comes to any actual revenue generated by any sports.

Also the 600k, is that a total amount split by ALL the schools in the conference for the whole year? Either way thats is so seriously weak fing numbers! Divide that total by how many members? yay..... :roll: :lol:

Actually 1/2 the cost of the lights at Bobcat Stadium came from donations, the other 1/2 came from debt financing to be paid off using ticket sales

Cruzado announced last month that if fans could raise $4 million, the university would match it with up to $4 million in debt financing, to be paid back by ticket sales and other football revenues over 15 years.

Lighting was always part of the renovation plan, but the funding wasn’t totally secured until this week. Fields said the ongoing process gained momentum over the past 10 days, capped by “an incredibly generous anonymous donor” who contributed $500,000. The overall price tag for the seven light poles will be roughly $1 million.

I have been told that MSU's lights were paid for out of the personal pocket of President Waded Cruzado. I have heard multiple variations of this, including that she may have passed on a large bonus so the lights could be installed. It may be true, but I obviously can't confirm.

I have also been told that UM's lights are significantly funded by the Big Sky Conference because of the Roots Sports contract and their desire to cover Griz games. Supposedly the Big Sky Conference stepped up so the deal could be done. I have heard this multiple times as well.

Both of these items are consistent with the press releases regarding UM's and MSU's light funding. I'm surprised that nobody has made a big deal yet out of the fact that UM received conference funding for their lights, but other schools apparently have not.

that's sounding very far-fetched. all big sky schools get an equal share of the roots tv contract with the big sky. we decided to use our share to pay off a portion of the cost of the lights. the big sky didn't chip in any money specifically for our lights unless they also gave an equal amount of funds to all the other schools.

cruzado got a $1 million bonus? i don't think so. what could've happened is she put her bonus or donated some money to the cause, but i highly doubt it was anything incredibly substantial, unless she has some other source of income/inheritance that allows her to do this kind of thing.

UM did not receive money from the BSC for thier lights. And FWIW, Dr. Cruzado didn't donate the money for the lights at MSU, either. But the ideas makes me chuckle. :lol:
