I know there is a thread on recruiting, but I really don't have time to read through 30 pages to catch up. Can anyone give me a quick update?

- where Griz are at with process?
- how many scholarships available?
-who Griz are excited about
- how many verbals?
- any signed?

Thanks for any info folks!

Yesterday was the first time to recruit in several weeks. It has been a "dead" period where coaches are allowed not to contact kids. Recruits can call coaches, but coaches cannot make first contact. The next few weeks will be interesting.

I am sure our staff is on the road working real hard to get in visits with kids. Should see some prospective Griz players at BB games the next few weeks.

Signing day is the first Wed. in Feb.

The university is not showing as much of the recuiting process as years past. So fan knowledge is behind where it usually is

If recruiting has been on a dead period for a couple of weeks, they better get the NCAA over to Bozo and do some investigating they got like 12 verbals last weekend from the players who were visiting them.

Dead Period (Bylaw 13.02.5.4)
A dead period is a period of time when it is not permissible to make in-person recruiting contacts or evaluations on or off the institution's campus or to permit official or unofficial visits by prospective student-athletes to the institution's campus. The provision of complimentary admissions to a prospective student-athlete during a dead period is prohibited, except as provided in Bylaw 13.7.2.5 for a prospective student-athlete who visits an institution as part of a group. During a dead period, a coaching staff member may not serve as a speaker at or attend a meeting or banquet at which prospective student-athletes are in attendance, except as provided in Bylaw 13.1.8.1, and may not visit a prospective student-athlete's educational institution. It remains permissible, however, for an institutional staff member to write or telephone a prospective student-athlete. (Revised 1/11/94)

13.02.5.4.1 Exception - Women's Volleyball. In women's volleyball, an institutional coaching staff member may not have incidental contact with a two-year college prospective student-athlete who is attending and being honored at an annual American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) awards banquet, provided no recruiting conversation occurs. (Adopted: 10/30/03)

13.02.5.4.2 Exception - Unofficial Visit During Dead Period After Commitment. A prospective student-athlete is permitted to make an unofficial visit during a dead period beginning the calendar day after one of the following events occurs: (Adopted: 1/16/10 effective 8/1/10, Revised: 1/15/11 effective 8/1/1/11)

(a) The prospective student-athlete signs a National Letter of Intent (NLI) or the institution's written offer of admission and/or financial aid; or

(b) The institution receives a financial deposit in response to the institution's offer of admission.

I'm reasonably confident that any college would know when they can and cannot have visits, and the fact that almost every single campus (except us apparently) has had prospects visiting the last week or two seems to show that it's ok to do.

Big row of recruits at the BB game last night with Justin Green hovering around. I only recognized one kid, and that was because of his letter jacket.
