has Montana as a 15th seed vs Gonzaga in salt lake! Soo now we know that won't happen! :thumb:

gonzaga will not get a 2 seed. nor the griz a 15 if we make it. Weber might get a 15 if they made it but not the griz....making too many headlines for that to happen

Gonzaga will likely get seeded lower, even if they deserve a 2 seed. I can see this as 3/14 or 4/13 match up though. I would LOVE this normally, but not this year without a big man to match up with them.

I agree Rule. Normally it would be a great match-up (although it might kill my Spokane-living parents, who love both teams with incredible passion!).

But I want no part of the Zags this year.

I would sure like the SLC draw, though.

I am saving vacation time for March Madness verses using it to go home during the regular season. I am sure if we make the tournament at SLC, there will be plenty of GRIZ fans to carpool with from here. I am sure the Martins and Gregorys will be making that trip too.

If they go 30-2, they're projected to have an RPI of 6 and they'd be 9-2 against RPI top 50. They would definitely get a 2 seed in that scenario.

If they go 29-3 or 28-4, they're projected to have an RPI of 8 and 10, respectively. Three seed seems likely in those scenarios.

According to KenPom, the odds of Zags going unbeaten in conference play, let alone the WCC tourney, is only 26%.

If Montana wins out (25-4), we're projected to have an RPI of 46.
At 24-5, projected RPI of 54.
At 23-6 (maybe most likely scenario), projected RPI of 63.

It depends how conference tournaments shake out, but I don't think you're immune from getting a 14 seed if you finish with an RPI in the 60s. So playing Zags a definite possibility. With the usual conference tourney upsets however, I think we'd be more likely to get a 13 seed with an RPI of 63.

Very good analysis. My concern, with a very tough Weber game on the road, is losing there and getting the Zags. Olynyk is a beast and would kill the Griz

:o

Wow. I had no idea the Griz RPI would be that good. You'd like to think that that, combined with the great win streak, would buy a 9 or a 10.

First things first, though. There's a TON of BB to be played.

Yup....I believe it is ours for taking, but we may get an L in the stretch. A rpi below 50 would be great. If we are conf./tourney champs think we could get a 12-13 seed

I just got back from shopping. One guy seen me in my GRIZ gear with my Montana GRIZ basketball hat on. A guy commented "Hell of a team and backcourt depth the GRIZ have. Montana is not about football only, anymore." I smiled and thanked him.

He told me he seen the GRIZ play at CSU and UNC. He told me our depth at 1,2,3 can match up with anyone in the nation. I said, they are talented, but not sure how we they would match up against a top 25 backcourt. He said don't worry about it. The GRIZ are great in the backcourt, if the GRIZ had 1 true big, they would be borderline top 25. He felt we would have only lost to BYU with a health Cherry all year too. He commented how badly the GRIZ got screwed by officiating at CSU.

I told him, it is too bad the BSC is a 1 bid league. He laughed, and said if you guys win out, and were to lose the BSC championship game, you would be on the bubble still. I asked him if he was serious. He said he was serious, and we could compete well even in the MWC this year. I thanked him again. He wished us all luck, and he hopes the GRIZ take care of business. He told me to hope we get a true big man next year, and this team will be dangerous, even without Cherry. The guy was very basketball knowledgeable. I still question the possibility of the BSC getting an at large bid though. He was very convinced if we take care of business, this is an at large team this year.

It was great to hear good things from an outsider about our program. He definitely made my day with his compliments of the program.

Great to hear that UM is getting some attention from non-BSC fans.

Thanks for sharing, Rule! :thumb:

Now, time to go beat the NoNicks!!

Great to hear, but there just isn't any way a BSC team gets an at large this year, even in the scenario he laid out. We can always dream, though!
