Last Five Brawls:

2018: 29-25 MSU
2019: 48-14 MSU
2021: 29-10 UM
2022: 55-21 MSU
2023: 37-7 UM

There hasn’t been a competitive game in 5 years, and we’re alternating blowout wins.

Very strange. Especially with both teams being very competitive over that stretch.

It won't be a popular position, but I think all of the games beginning in 2019 saw one or the other team come out flat - meaning for whatever reason(s), they weren't mentally prepared. It happens. And when they were punched in the mouth, they didn't respond well. Last season it was a botched punt, and not being able to get off a block to save their lives. In 2021 and today, the Griz were on fire from the jump all the way through to when they shut down the scoreboard. As we all know, 90% of this game is half mental.

I think you're right, and also the team playing at home won each of those games - it definitely affects prep, and once you get your Brawl crowd going, they are going to amplify the mental momentum. The Griz and Cats of recent years are used to dominating at home and playing a lot of away games where they beat up NoCo or ISU in front of 250 people at a high school stadium, so getting punched in the mouth in the state of Montana and playing from behind is something they haven't experienced.

I wouldn't classify 2018 (29-25) a blow out win. Bobby was asked this question in his post-game interview and had no good explanation. One thing I do not like is that with the BSC having so many members, we do not get to play every other team in the conference. The result is teams have very different in-conference strength of schedule, which makes it difficult to judge how well they are doing through the regular season, leading to big surprises like this. I was saying in another post, the Cats had only beaten one team this year with a winning record, and they had played four games on the road of which they lost two. For reasons I do not fully understand--other than it's probably all about money--the powers at be have determined we need super-sized conferences.

That last line is truly worthy of the great Yogi Berra!

Kitties have a MVC coach who dosent understand the passing game and a dui guy for OC. Griz have a OC that does. Granted its been a long time in coming but give Bobby credit for making Pease OC. This team isn't going to be turned back. enjoy the ride its going to be fun.
