Larry K. candidate for U of A?

Being crushed that Lute is gone from my second college basketball love, I am sitting here wondering who the potential coaches could be. I know there has been discussion of Blaine Taylor being a possible replacement for Lute at his retirement; however, with Lute leaving in the midst of early training camps is it possible that Larry Kryskowiak is a candidate to replace Lute? I would think it would be a no brainer and a wonderful pick for U of A. Not sure if he wants to get back into college coaching but this is a prime move that could define his career and a school that he could be a part of for the long haul. And he would not be a big fish in a small pond like he was in Missoula. I like it. MSLACAT, give me the insight.

Well, I am no mslacat, therefore what I say has zero credibility, but didn't he want to stay in the Milwaukee area to some extent? And to that end, it seems to have been said over and over here that Coach K. doesn't want to coach college hoops as well.

I could have sworn Lute had somewhat groomed an assistant as a successor?

That being said, I think it would be dope if he did get a sniff by UA and I was thinking the same thing when I read that today.

The only reason I thought that is because he is not likely to get a coaching position in the NBA again and U of A is a perennial powerhouse in college basketball. College is the highest level that Larry has experienced success. Unless another NBA club wants to put him on the bench as an assistant. I would personally love to see him there, but I know it is fairly unlikely.

There is no groomed successor. The interim coach is someone that was brought on board this spring. Kevin O'Neil was supposed to be the replacement but Lute made it clear that he wasn't leaving and Kevin was not welcome anymore. I for one don't have any hard feelings for losing KO.

i think larry is an n.b.a. guy, period, where he was an ex-player, doesn't have to recruit, has great contacts and friendships, and where one finds the big money and the first-class travel. there's just no going back to micky d's once you've tasted the high life.

but, oh, those clothes! who buys his ties, barney rubble? larry needs to hit saks and neiman marcus with sarah palin.

Flowered Shirt Guy is Mr Blackwell now ?

yup, blackwell's dead now, i'm taking over. as my first act of mercy, i'm refraining from comment on gb1's "dyed-in-the-wool" outfits.

ESPN is saying it will be the new guy Lute brought onto his staff this spring. Can't remember his name.

That guy that was hired is going to be the interim coach for now. It has been noted that they are doing a national search for the new head man.

I think it will be Jerry Tarkanian.

So, you'd think they would hire some 78 year old geezer? I guess if a 72 year old geezer can become president, a 78 year old geezer could coach basketball. Oh wait, that is a 6 year difference, which is significant when geezers are over 70. For one thing, he may not drop dead on the bench during a basketball game (odds increase of that happening each year), but he certainly won't be around very long.

If Larry were hired, and I agree it's a remote chance, we would have one more good team we could schedule.

No.

U of A you do not want to follow the legend. The fella that was on the staff that was first in line figured that out and remained as an assistant. Therefore it appears the Joe G. or Sara P. will be availiable at the end of the year. :?
