Went to the game tonight. Not as bad as the score. UW looked like the top 25 team they are. We shot poorly. It seemed like a lot of our threes were rushed, for good reason, UW was quick and rarely out of position on defense. We looked like a team that isn't quite playing as a unit yet. Lots of defensive breakdowns, missed block outs, not communicating on screens etc.. Sadly, Rae Ehrman, who looks like she will be great with some time at this level, rolled her ankle pretty severely in the 2nd quarter and never returned. Bright spots. Newcomers Land, Gillette, play tough and will be great with some time in Nate's system. Draya played hard as well but got lost a few times on defense. Konig was great but it was clear from the get go that UW had a game plan to contain her. Again, this unit just needs time for everyone to get on the same page and they are gonna be really good.

Without a post presence, it's going to be somewhat difficult for the LG defense to prevent interior scoring by the opponents they go up against. IMHO

It will be a challenge, but at the Big Sky level, not too much. Nate had a good plan to collapse and double the 6'5" and 6'3 girls for UW. The problem was their was confusion around "who" was the person collapsing and it would come late, UW would move without ball, and just like that, our defense was all out of position. That said, Land was a beast. She forced several misses and worked her tail off. Once they get their double down figured out, they will be fine. They will need it against Idaho as Barbosa is a talented 6'5".

We have got to get the 3's, that's part of Nate's hope I'd say.

Things to be sorted out to be sure, although it seems the LG are not so traditional post oriented. The one who throws our opponents a curveball is Waddington, give her room outside, she'll score, or dribble drive. Leave her room inside, she'll take it to the hoop!
