Lady Griz are off to a 37-20 start against Weber State. Impressed with the way they’re sharing the ball and getting contributions across the board.

Nice win, but the defense needs a lot of work if the Lady Griz want to be contenders in the Big Sky.

I agree 100% with that statement. Our defense is not very good. I would have thought that by this time with this coaching staff we would be a lot better defensively than we are. Offensively we can score but you are not going to be able to score every night. Some days the ball will just not go in the basket. It will be very interesting to watch them against a physical team like Idaho State.

My first impression of Weber State coach Jenteal Jackson is very positive. The final score (87-71 Griz) indicates a blowout, but that was not the case as second half adjustments by Jackson stymied Montana's inside game and the Wildcats got within 6 with seven minutes left in the game.
Jackson has sr. guard Daryn Hickok playing up to her potential and Griz defenders couldn't stop her in the second half.
No more gimmes in Ogden. Can't say for certain, but I think the Wildcats could make a statement later in conference play. Montana's late surge amounted to a solid first win for the Griz.

... and, yes I agree. Montana will need to play much better defense if it wants to be in the title hunt.

Weber is a 3-10 team, agree they do have some potential, not bad play, they showed where our defense weakness lies...ran effective backdoor plays to the hoop, and manned up well to slow down our offense. What impressed me about Weber, is their tenacity...never gave up ever. That being said, when the LGriz click at least offensively, a major contender we have not seen in recent years!
