Unbelievable whining ... nothing short of sick and vicious. We start out with half a team, then lose two more of our best!! Great game by Shannon and the girls considering all that ... one that should be bringing out support and amazement at how well they did in this game under the worst circumstances possible. The "fans" on this site are truly a pack of disgusting, little dwarves.

Every team has to deal with adversity, bad breaks and kids that get sick. They overcome, prepare a solid scouting report, coach to their strengths and find a way to win. Deal with it. You sound like a sniveling and whiny apologist. You embrace mediocrity all damn day long. That does not mean the rest of us have to. I am done reading your drivel and detached from reality posts.

So you are good with 35-56?

There are degrees of adversity, simpleton ... degrees. Btw, what did you get yours in ... A BS, perhaps, in Perpetual Crying?

Under these circumstances, yes.

Looks like the LG had psychological relapse tonight. Injuries had caused the LG to be psychologically down for a long period, resulting in multiple losses; then the LG recovered briefly for 2 good home games last weekend; and, alas, they had a relapse tonight against a team that had been 2-13 coming into this game (so now 3-13 with 2 of those wins being over the LG, according to BW).

I am now giving you your last warning. Either cut crap, especially the insults to other posters, or I'm going to ask Chris to ban you.

Actually, MarinerFan, Copper... I realize a great player does not make a great coach. If I based my entire analysis of the current situation on merely that, I wouldn't have much on which to stand. But I believe there is a lengthy list of reasons that can and should justify an extension... and another list of reasons that illustrate the dangers of eroding a solid interscholastic program with inconsistent hiring/employment practices regarding its coaches.

Ask away, hollow man ... I understand your pain after having red assed and exposed you so many times. But, unlike you, I don't live here and a banding would be as naught to me.

From a PM I received a bit ago:

"PR, you have done everything humanly possible to rationally contradict everything Bruno has stated, topic after topic. You have won the arguments time and time again. You will not convince him otherwise. I think he knows he is FOS but just wants to argue and call you and others names. That is revealing. He acts like a spoiled little kid with some education, on meth."

Nothing psychological about a probable concussion and a fever w/hydration. Now they're down 4 guards and two forwards with 3 subs on the bench. I actually believe Jordan, Abby and Kylie played well... just had problems putting the ball into the bucket.

I strongly support this Montana women's team and its coaching staff. I've made what I consider are strong, statistically based cases for this team in at least two other threads & I'll let them speak for my beliefs. One other thing that is really haunting me about the lynch mob on egriz right now: Shannon still stands in the Montana record books as THE outstanding Montana women's player. She also spent years as coach Selvig's head assistant. Isolated, they are not equal to what Shaun Rainey just posted on Twitter. Yes... unreal. Again, I support this Montana women's team, coach Schweyen and her entire staff. Go Montana.

Do you have any stats showing why the loss occurred tonight, other than things like being out rebounded 51-37, giving up 24 offensive rebounds, shooting 7-13 from the line, a 25% 3-pt shooter for the season shooting 1-10 for 3 tonight?

Have you done any further research on what's going on with the program?

Besides looking at the 3 years of losing records, as well as stats like you say you have, and trends/trajectory, do you think Haslam should take into account what the players think, determine which players are thinking of not returning, if any, and take into account the reasons that players departed last year? What about the views of parents, likely taken with a grain of salt.

Yes, 6-21 shooting is not so hot. And 9 rebounds in 66 minutes is not so hot either.

The LG, including I assume this group of 3, also had trouble boxing out and hustling to loose balls.

For the record, GJ, I understand completely where you're coming from. I just disagree. I can still support the coaching staff and the team, but still be worried about the direction things appear to be going. In the end I believe these ladies did the University proud and they fought their tails off and I can't fault them for that. I'll always root for the Griz and the coaching staff, no matter what. :thumb:

PlayerRep: Yeah, I watched the game. I studied the stats post-game. I observed early on that Gabbi didn't look well. I agonized over Emma's fall & figured she might have a concussion. I flinched at a "zillion" missed layups and 3-4 ft shots. I later saw the flushed faces and tears of players and coaches. In short, I feel awful for this team and coaches right now. I have no sense of criticism.

The questions you ask above are, I believe, the responsibility of an AD to answer. Mr Haslam has had some tough decisions recently (i.e. the previous, since replaced volleyball, soccer & football coaches). I supported how he handled them. So, I have no answers to your questions: I am an outsider on principle and honor the difficult (insider) job of the AD.

I stand firm in support of the team and coaches. As stated before, I believe ALL coaches deserve a 4-5 year contract to build a program, unlesss there are distinct irregularities (citing recent issues with the previous, since-fired soccer coach as an example). The industry standard contract nationwide is 4 years for all sports except football (5 years). Minutes ago I heard unconfirmed info regarding Brian Fish. Well, Mr. Fish has had 5 years (3+2) to develop a program.

Journal, what's your support for this statement? "The industry standard contract nationwide is 4 years for all sports except football (5 years)."

I can't cite any standard, PlayerRep, so feel free to diss me on it.

Almost everyone in this forum including Mr. Rainey is missing the most crucial point of the Lady Griz. It is not what has happened with injuries or even their win loss record. Teams deal with that stuff all the time and if that is all they have to deal with, they usually make a turn around. What is wrong with the Lady Griz is what is happening in practice and before they ever get on the court. In the last two years 8 Girls have quit the team: Jaree Mane, Henny Hearn, Rachel Staudacher, Maddie Keast, Sierra Anderson, Nora Klick, Hailey Nicholson, Caitlin Lonergan. Others were and still are considering transferring. The real question is why did they all quit? Why did the Administration and the news media not report the truth of what was was going on? Why did numerous parents file official complaints with the AD and the President of the university? Why was there a climate survey done similar to the one done for the soccer coach when he was fired. Why was it not reported? (By the way all of this is public record so you can check for yourself - i did) We can debate x's and o's all day long but it really does not accomplish much. The climate of the Lady Griz is not healthy and that is the coaches responsibility. That is the problem. In the end you have have to ask why! Why? why? why? And when the answer comes out then you will understand why the girls have a hard time winning. A good player is not always a good coach!

Money ball asks Why, Why, Why. I have no inside info and can only speculate, but placing myself in some of our players’ shoes I’d have to wonder if there is some favoritism going on with a certain player who happens to have the same last name as the coach. Over the last 4 or 5 games of the season she’s logged more minutes than Gabi or Sammy who are both light years ahead in terms of their positive impact to the team when on the floor (scoring, rebounding, assists, steals). I don’t like to criticize individual players, she is a true freshman after all. So this is more of a criticism of a coach that greenlights her freshman daughter to bomb 10 3-pointers during the tournament game, some of which were off of designed plays for her. Add in the fact that another daughter is joining the team next year who has been plagued by injuries and nobody has really seen play over the last 2 years? Maybe JS deserved her minutes and maybe SS will be an impact player next year. But when Mom is making those decisions rather than an unrelated coach, it just invites speculation from other players and fans alike. Bringing family members onto the team is a risk, and if not handled right the consequences become very apparent very quickly. Ultimately, for me the injuries may justify the poor record and in a vacuum may also justify another extension. But with extraneous issues included (players leaving, morale issues, blurred lines between family and team) I think a change may be appropriate at this point.
