This program is in a pretty low spot. I think a national coaching search has to happen. More than the coach, I think the roster needs a major over haul (I don't see Petrino doing that). We only have 4, maybe 5 Div 1 caliber players. I think our defense was pretty poor all season. I also lost track of how many wide open bricks they threw up. I'm no expert, but it just seems like fundamentally, we are not very good. There were several times their "motion" offense was them frantically running into each other.
 
Petrino is a great guy and I think he did well with what he was provided. But after tonight it might be a good time to start over. Shannon dug such a deep hole with the internal program identity, but sorry to say it’s probably best to start over. Yes, we’ll feel some pain but the Lady Griz base will defiantly draw a top prospect who could take the program up moving forward. Maybe expand recruitment past Sentinel...realize that UM still has a name in women’s bball before it’s lost, and build on the talent we do have now.
 
I continually am frustrated by our lack of defense. We don’t ever seem to make any changes during the game. Sac St basically ran a layup drill that we couldn’t stop. They killed us scoring from the inside. Why didn’t we zone for a few trips down the floor and see what would happen? They weren’t shooting well from the outside either and had plenty of open shots where we were just late running at them. I can’t believe that we never tried it.

Personally I don’t think Phil Jackson could turn this program around in a short time. We lack talent and Shannon chased off some of the best talent we had.....a 1st team all big sky guard to name one.

100% agree. Clean house with the entire coaching staff. Perhaps some ethnic diversity, or is that asking too much from this program?
