Lady griz vs cal poly

I predict that cal poly wins this game based on their aggressive play and lack of court awareness on the griz part. Hope I’m wrong.

Agree - poor awareness, losing 50/50 balls, careless turnovers. Not pretty.

As much as Stump struggled shooting the ball, I think the Lady Griz will miss her creating this season. The guards are struggling to create shots and it’s resulted in forcing the ball into Gfeller who, aside from her own 7-0 run, has not had her best game.

We'll go with your thread!

You could be right - they have quick hands and aren't missing as many shot.in the 4th quarter.

Gritty win for the Lady Griz on the road. Cal Poly was 3-5, but 4 of those 5 losses were to Pac-12 teams.

Really need to find a way to cut down on the turnovers.

A gritty Griz win vs. a very physical Cal Poly team that forced 21 Montana turnovers.
I'd give the game ball to Gina Marxen who -- with 17 points and 5 assists -- pretty much took over the point for the Griz. Carmen Gfeller was pretty beat up in the first half but scored 13 in the second to finish with 21 points and six boards. Dani Bartch did the usual, played solid defense, blocked a few shots and snared 11 rebounds. A very solid road win vs. a Big Sky caliber team.

Wow. Griz had 21 turnovers and cal poly had 17 steals. Marxen goes 5-9 on threes and seemed to hit them when the griz needed them to stay close. Thank you cal poly for shooting only 60% at the line. I would love to see Dani be more involved in the offense. She could score if she had the mindset to take it to the basket. She also has a nice outside shot just doesn’t take many.

Shah also had her flop game working. She was not afraid to fall to the floor when a breeze came by. That being said she is a complete player and will definitely lead them.

She even had the audacity to have the referee see if her nose was bleeding after a flop

Link to a very good game story from GoGriz.

Not a pretty game, stats were livable, and as you note turnovers were in my opinion bad play. Some like the announcers had it that CP forced the turnovers, some, but in my observation most of them were bad passing. Things on offense just seemed things were not clicking, the shooting just not there, (we are saved by the few players that were "on"). Dani absolutely needs to get more aggressive, but I'm not sure she is the powerbody to do that. McGraw, not sure this game what's going on, just weird for a high potential shooter. Carmen good game, but we really need Pirog to come around on all levels to take some of the heat off Carmen. We have lots of talent and potential, when they all click,,,watchout!!

I agree that Pirog is a major key for Montana's success going forward. She's capable of playing solid hi-post, passes well, and shoots well facing the basket (though she missed her lone try last night). Simply put, the GrizWBB need to take some pressure off of the low post. I think Pirog has improved and has potential; she just needs more time on court.
