Lady Griz v North Dakota

Painful to watch but Torie walked on the court under her own power with a smile on her face to receive her All-Tournament team award along with Kellie. Gritty, tough young lady demonstrating her class representing the Lady Griz and Montana. Major kudos to a special student athlete and to the whole team for showing what these young women are all about.

Go get 'em next year Ladies! :clap: :thumb:

Won't SUU (being regular season co-champs) get the WNIT bid? Maybe LG will get CBI or whatever the other tourney is called.
Today's Missoulian stated that the Lady Griz were assured of a WNIT bid should they lose to UND.

I hope so :thumb: and that would be sweet but I've learned to take info/opinions from the Missoulian with a grain of salt after Florio happened.

So if not the WNIT, the other tourney is the WBI. It looks like the WBI invites 16 teams while the WNIT has 64 teams (32 conference auto-bids and 32 at-large selections). The NCAA has 64 teams. That's 144 teams in postseason tourneys. According to realtimerpi.com, the LG have a RPI of 89 and SOS of 196 (haven't counted UND game, though). That should be good enough to play again, right?

Southern Utah will earn the Big Sky's automatic bid to the WNIT tournament.

Southern Utah, which tied for the regular-season championship with North Dakota and was the No. 2 seed at the tournament, earned the Big Sky Conference's automatic bid to the WNIT.

Montana will find out Monday night if receives an at-large bid to the WNIT. The Big Sky Conference had four teams advance to national tournaments last season. Montana made the NCAA, Northern Colorado, Eastern Washington and Idaho State were all invited to the WNIT.

Wow, I didn't realize there were 3 BSC teams in the WNIT last year.

It looks like UNC was (20-12, 15-5 BSC) after the BSC tourney with 1 of those wins being non-DI http://uncbears.com/sports/wbkb/2012-13/schedule (Regis was exhibition and Johnson & Wales is NAIA). UNC went on to beat Wyoming in the 1st round of the WNIT by 8 and lose to St. Mary's in the 2nd round by 10.

EWU was (19-12, 14-6 BSC) after the BSC tourney with 1 of those wins being non D-I http://www.goeags.com/sports/w-baskbl/2012-13/schedule (Carroll was exhibition and Warner Pacific is NAIA). EWU lost to Washington by 5 in the WNIT 1st round.

ISU was (18-12, 13-7 BSC) after the BSC tourney with 1 of those wins being non-DI http://www.isubengals.com/schedule.aspx?schedule=147&path=wbball (Colorado State Pueblo was exhibition and Carroll is NAIA). ISU lost to Brigham Young by 15 in the WNIT 1st round.

In comparison, the LG are (22-10, 14-6 BSC) with a NAIA win over MSU Northern. According to realtimerpi.com, the LG currently have a RPI of 99 and SOS of 196. It also has the BSC's RPI at 14 and SOS at 14. This is good compared to last year when the BSC had a RPI of 16 and SOS of 16. (According to that last link, UNC had RPI of 92, EWU had RPI of 96, and ISU had RPI of 133 last year...but those might have been calculated after the WNIT games).

I hope that means we get to see Sullivan and Hill (if recovered by then) play at least once more.

Wasn't sure where to post this, but figured this is as good a place as any. There was a great letter to the GF Herald regarding the UND Women's basketball game against Montana. Here is a link to it: http://www.grandforksherald.com/content/mark-lindquist-standing-o-athlete-sparks-love-grand-forks" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

That Torie Hill was a competitor. Not sure if she is done for the season or is able to play in the WNIT game or not but would hate for her to end her career with an injure. She definitely had the respect of the UND fans and basketball team with her play in the BSC Tourney.

Very classy article and props to the UND fans. No question the Montana crowd would have been equally as classy had the tables been turned. :clap: :thumb:

I like the fact that one can watch the entire game on replay at http://www.undsports.com/SportSelect.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=13500&SPID=6389&SPSID=58572" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

This by going to the bottom of the page - FULL TEAM SCHEDULE box - Last Event Saturday March 15 - Watch Video. Sequence at the 87:44 / 130:22 with 7:24 left in the game. This for the time being available, as I understand, before it's archived. Wish gogriz.com was as up to date for watching replays and having sporing events videos. NDU ahead of the times, comparatively. Wish you luck in the NCAA against Texas A&M.

Only 2,125 in attendance on Wednesday for the LG WNIT game? I would'll thought by now there'd be over 6,000 like in the good o' days. :(
