Lady Griz/UNC

Another ticky tack call. Jesus I hate college bball foul calls now. If a defender isn't moving and arms are straight up, and the player on O jumps into you, it shouldn't be a foul.

Yep, that drives me crazy too.

BTW: Just noticed in the stats. The LG have done all this without making one 3-pointer (so far).
 
Great comeback win by 11! 60-49. Did not think they had it in them but their inside game came alive!
 
Wow what a time to go stone cold for UNC, they looked like they were going to run us out of the building.

Good job of staying focused and coming back.
 
Had other obligations today and didn't get the game on until late...it was tied at 43 when I tuned in; nice fluid finish for the Lady Griz, obviously they found the rhythm and UNC lost it. Congrats Lady Griz!
 
Another great win for a storied program...way to go team...way to go seniors....way to go coach.
 
I'm waiting for some folks to come back here and tell us how slow and predictable the LG are and that "someone needs to coach up the LG on the double team play..they seem clueless and they depend upon the long and slow bounce pass along with the three point shot. Very predictable play. " But I'm guessing that wont happen any time soon. :shock:

The fat lady finally started singing and the girls knew it was time to roll! I have no idea how or why or how come but the Lady Griz came alive in the second half and won going away. They have been a hard team to figure out but I'll say this, they are very good and when they decide to turn it on, away they go. Great win and good luck in the NCAA's.
 
Great job Lady Griz! Great comeback and determination down the stretch. Awesome game to get back to the big dance.
 
I also got to the game late. LG took the lead about 30 sec after I got to my seat. UNC looked absolutely shell-shocked. Had no clue how to get their mojo back against an LG team that was absolutely dialed in mentally. Most fun I've ever had in 6:30.
 
What a comeback. At halftime, Selvig must have told the team to start pounding it into the paint--as that's what UM did from the get-go in the 2d half. UM started to move closer right away, but UNC fought back each time. Then, the Lady Griz started chipping away, slowly but surely, and went on a very long sustained spurt and comeback, with tough defense, smart play, good rebounding, and post scoring.

UM didn't make a 3. 0-10, but not many taken in the 2d half (3). Improved 26% first half shooting to 41% overall. 19 offensive rebounds. Wow. 38 rebounds in total. The crowd was good all game and loud. When the comeback got rolling, the crowd was awesome. Most people on their feet for defense. Loud, screaming, stomping. Eventually, you could see UNC tightening up, making mistakes, and missing more shots and eventually almost all shots. UM cleaned up almost all of UNC's misses. Strange, the co-MVP, who is a good player and had played very well, started missing, pressing and eventually missed a bunch of free throws (3 in a row).

Aided by the crowd, the defense seemed to pick up steam as the comeback went on. None of the players showed any signs of tiring, and there wasn't much subbing. Mostly 6, and maybe 7 players, in the 2d half. Rickman (20) and Valley (14) were great and on the boards. Selvig played a very good game. Rubel (14 and 40 minutes) was terrific. Everyone else was also good. Guards rebounded well too.

UNC up 14 with 15 to go. UNC up 12 with 11:53 to go. While UM had been battling hard all off, this is when the comeback came alive. Down 8 at 10:18. Down 6 at 9:07. 4 at 8:17. At this point, I told our group, only half jokingly, that the Griz were going to win in a blowout. Our group all agreed that UM was going to win it. Tied at 6:38 and again at 6. LG take lead at 5:28 and never look back. Looks like last LG sub at 9:26.

UM shot very poorly in first half, and had 6 turnovers in about the first 6 minutes (mostly steals by UNC). 7 for the half. Only 2 TO in second half.

About 20 former Lady Griz at the game.
