Just a note - It looks like the LG can move into a tie for second place if they beat Portland State tonight. Something to watch if you are suffering from Thursday night BB withdrawl.

The only way LG can finish in second is to win both games and Northern Colorado and Eastern washington lose Saturday. So here is hoping for that to happen.

An interesting aside here, taking into consideration just how phenonomeal Katie Baker has been. for instance, up to now her career statistics show 935 career points scored in 61 games for a 15.3 average; 356 - 838 FG/Atts for about a 42.4 % and 206 - 264 FTs for about 78 % with 524 Rebounds.

Taking next year and remaining games this year (29 + 2 at least, hopefully, for 2012-13, and four more games this year: 2 in the regular season and 2 more in the BSC Tournament, again hopefully), that would estimate a 96 game playing career. But with only 96 games played for the LG she'll end up with about 1,385 points [935 + 450 (31 x 15.3], good for 6th on the All-Time scoring list; 15.3 pt/avg/g (second best scoring average) with 821 RBs, good for 3rd with an average of 8.5 rb/g which is 2nd in career average on the All-Time list.

While most players for the LG average about 120 games for their playing careers, Katie Baker is challenging their career stats with but only an estimated 96 games overall; playing in only 15 games as a freshman and 19 as a sophomore). If she didn't miss about 28 games in her first two years (almost a full year of playing game-wise) she'd be right up there in the Top Three in most categories for a career; such as 1,813 pts (if calibrated at 15.3 pt/g, her current career scoring average) for 3rd in career scoring and 1,059 rbs for the Top Rebounder career-wise with the 2nd best average of 8.5 rb/g.

Another poor shooting night for the LG

Final: 60-52 PSU wins.

Frustrating loss. Towards the end of the game LG were only shooting 19% from the field. It's crazy how polar opposite the offense/spacing is for the LG in Cat-Griz games and other games I've seen. Is just because they are more fired up and aggressive in MSU games, or what?

One other thing, I noticed. PSU had their "jumbotron" replay board at hoop level, and had it flashing constantly when the LG were on offense at that end, which got me thinking: would someone be allowed to bring a strobe light to the men's tourney and sit behind the hoop to disrupt freethrows, etc? Who's willing to risk getting kicked out next week?

I saw in twitter a few of the ladies weren't feeling the best earlier today, rough finish, darn.

Bottom line is you gotta put in the hoop--29% shooting for the entire game isn't going to win many contests. A real shame because they outplayed PSU in many other stats as per the post-game summary from the PSU announcer on Big SkyTV. Katy Baker was just awesome (24 pts, 10-10 in FT's, 5 steals, some boards) --but she can't do it alone.

Nice gesture post-game as Robin came into the post-game interview the PSU announcer was doing with the Vikings Eryn Jones and congratulated Jones on her career wishing her the best. The announcer termed Bo as "Robin Selvig, a class coach and a class man". :thumb:

I'd rather watch a curling match

+1

Note: especially if the "Match" is held at Antarctica and/or The North Pole (with all "other" person's attendance strictly optional).

Maybe we should start a fund to make this happen. I'm sure the majority of eGriz would pitch in!

I like curling. Only the Canadians could come up with a sport like that. Beats soccer of bowling hands down. Thanks Bluenoser for some additional reasons to watch.

Jeez, poor shooting I guess. If you take Baker and DeBoer's shooting out the rest of the team went 7 for 34 or 21%. How good would Baker be if we had somebody that could actually shoot from outside!!!!!
