LADY GRIZ/SUU

Anyone else "tuning" this one in on Big Suck TV/America One? Great video---no sound? Same deal as the men's game Thursday night.... :x

Good news---sound back; Bad news LG trailing 5-0 and as cold as it is outside perTom Stage...

What a terrific win by the Lady Griz - 81-73 (I think) against a talented and very scrappy SUU team. Feller is going to be a star player for Montana- both handling the ball and shooting the long ball. :thumb:

Looks like we had some problems with the press. SUU is good. They looked quicker than we are to me. Good win.

Ladies showed a lot of toughness and grit and that switch to zone in the second half made a huge difference. Love the moxie of this group! :thumb: And oh, BTW you could hear Robin as well as the announcers and at times even MORE vocal. :D

This was a good game for the Lady Griz to shoot well. shot 45.6% from the field. I wanted Kellie Cole to have the ball all the time because of her free throw shooting. If Kelley keeps it up, she will have a very good shot at having the season record for Free throw shooting percentage. Kellie Cole is shooting 89.1% at the line. Lauren Cooper shot 89.6% percent at the free throw line in 2001.

Cole had 24 points, Hill had 19 points, and Sullivan had 11 points to lead the Lady Griz. Sullivan was 1 rebound short of having a double-double.

Lady Griz outrebounded SUU 41 - 35 which certainly helped.

This is possibly the strongest the Big Sky Conference (womens basketball only) has been this year, and much of it is due to the additions of SUU and North Dakota. Sac State is part of the reason but they have faded somewhat in the past couple of weeks. Big Sky Conference is the 16th ranked conference.

That was a fun game to watch and a great win for the LG. SUU is a good team but they came in and really wanted to win this one. Probably the best game I've seen from them out of the 4 SUU games I've watched this year. Good thing the LG were on their game other than the very start of the game. With the win, LG move into a tie with MSU for 2nd in the BSC (one loss back of UND).

Yeah, I would have to agree this is one of the strongest years for women's BSC bball that I can ever remember. Right now you have UND and Sac State with 14 wins, UM and SUU with 12 wins, and MSU and UNC with 11 wins. Even last place Weber State has 4 wins (all OOC) this year and has looked good at times against some of the league's tougher teams. Despite all that though, there might only be one team with a sub-100 RPI at the beginning of next week (North Dakota) and the conference has been routinely rated 13th in the past with a weaker field. :?:

(There's still games to play tonight but in comparison, right now there are only 3 teams with double digit wins on the men's side...UNC (13), WSU (11), and PSU (10))

So, when was the Big Sky ranked 13th routinely? I could see it during the mid 80s to mid 90s (when Big Sky was ruled by the Lady Griz).

But, from 2007-8 season to now, Big Sky ranked from 25th up to 16th. Big Sky was ranked 16th last year and 17th the year before that. 2008-9, the big sky was ranked 25th in division 1 (that was the last year with Mandy Morales). the Big Sky Conference may have been the weakest in 2008-9. Big Sky is ranked 16th now.

Good to hear. Also noticed that with four more assists Torry Hill will break into at least a tie for being in the Top Ten in Career Assists with 374. With her season average of just over five assists a game, with twelve regular season games left regardless of post-season, Hill could very well end up at least seventh on the all time list for Career Assists.

I definitely could be wrong and the place I usually reference for RPI (realtimerpi.com) doesn't keep archived records of past seasons to quote, but I thought I remember the BSC being rated 13th last year or a couple years ago. Earlier towards beginning of conference play this year I thought I saw 13th RPI and 17th SOS.

Actually they do have year-end RPI results on there and you're right, the highest in recent years is 16th.

11-12: 16 RPI, 13 SOS
12-13: 16 RPI, 16 SOS
