In a rebuilding year, with an overall young team, and after losing arguably their best player earlier in the season, nonetheless.
After last night's 75-60 win over first place EWU and thanks to MSU's 83-73 win over PSU, there are basically 4 teams still in legitimate contention to host the BSC tourney. They are:
EWU (8-3, with split to UM, one loss to PSU on the road, and split with Sac St)
UM (8-4, with split to EWU, got swept by PSU, and one win over Sac St @ home)
PSU (7-4, with one win over EWU @ home, sweep of UM, and split with Sac St)
Sac State (6-4, with split with EWU, one loss to UM on the road, and split with PSU)
Sac State has won 7 straight and seems to be the hottest team right now as they put up 95 in a win over Pacific. Regardless, Sac State has never beaten the Lady Griz, whether home or away, during the entire series. The Lady Griz and the Hornets will play this weekend in Sacramento in what will be a crucial game. EWU and PSU will also meet in Cheney for their regular season finales later on which should be just as big of a game.
And after witnessing the loss to WSU on the road and other road struggles, I think it is vital that the LG secure home court for the tourney
(sidenote: LG had 4,002 in attendance last night against EWU in comparison to PSU's last home game of 1,297 against Sac St, EWU's last home game of 754 against Sac St, and Sac State's last home game of 258 against in-state rival Pacific.)
