Just recently moved to the chicago area about 3 months ago from Helena. I've been following UM still from over here by checking the official site as well as this one. When I had an ex-lady griz encounter 2 weeks ago, I knew I would have to join and share with everyone.
I went into the city for a social function with clients and work associates to a popular steak venue. While we were being seated, we noticed a big back section of the restaurant sectioned off and questioned our hostess as to why we were being crammed into the little space while the whole back area was open. She mentioned that a few White Sox players frequented the place often and were planning on having a 'gathering' there that night. Not much of a baseball fan, I didn't think much of it until the group arrived and in the middle of the pack of players, I recognized a tall blond woman..as none other than ex-lady griz, Jill Hinkel! I couldn't believe it, as I had met her one or two times in Missoula, at a couple of griz encounter type events. But she looked a lot different, as its been about 3 years since I last watched her play and I didn't see her at all in her last year at UM. Later, I noticed her exit the "vip" section and head for the ladies room. I excused myself and caught up with her on her way back to her table. It was indeed her! She was very friendly (although I'm sure she didn't remember me) and extremely nice. She said she was there with some "friends" and that she is now living in Chicago going to school. She gave me her email address to contact her about game-day viewing parties and seemed excited to run into a fellow grizzly. Afterwards, I felt almost proud, that one of our very own was now a gorgeous woman, jet-setting around such a big city, with world champion friends.
Just another little ex-griz update for ya'll. Anyways, its good to finally join the board. Go griz!
