i like it. selvig always has been willing to take on tough non-conference foes.

got to think, too, that he's got an eye on all these stellar home-grown recruits that will be making college choices the next few years. these gals have already proved at the aau level they can compete against the best.

FYI: In mens basketball starting this year the Big Sky Conference has a new rule that each member team must put together a schedule with teams who's over all APR average is 161 or better. I do not think they have applied anything similair to this to women's basketball.

I'll tell you this: If UM should lose in the conference trounament but have 22+ wins with this schedule and still not get selected to the NCAA tournament, the whole things is a sham.

Very nice schedule, Robin. (but what's up with the Holiday Classic tournament? Only 3 teams playing a round-robin set-up?)

I like the round robin setup. They have done it before. Get to play all the teams in the tournament.

My dissappointment in the schedule is the number of home games in the conference when most of the students will be gone.

What could hurt the Lady Griz in this scenario is the weakness of our conference schedule. With teams like UNC and Sac St, who were near the bottom of the GPI last season, we need good non-conference games to balance the schedule.

The Griz had BETTER win conference regardless. The incredible ECB in NCAA selections will almost guarantee that. I'm not even sure that an undie season falling short in the BSCT would be enough given the blatant ECB environment. There will be an undeserving Big Ten (ahem, 11) near-.500 school getting in at UM's expense if UM doesn't get the auto bid. You can bet your bippy that that is what's going to happen.

It's sad, but that's the way it is. The B(C)$/ECB has got to go away for this to change.

Not so fast SH. On another thread you boasted the PSU coach was going to kick everyone's ass in the BSC. What happened, did you actually do some homework and recant? :thumb:

No, GB. I was just replying to another post. I still believe that Sherri's going to kick some major shell. I was just venting my continuing feeling that the Sky is and will continue to be a one-bid conference due to prevalent ECB regardless of how good the second-place team is.

That said, I'm sick of near-.500 Big Ten (11), ACC, and SEC teams getting bids at the expense of good schools in the Big Sky, Big West, and WCC. It's flat out wrong. And it applies to both genders.

Agree with you wholeheartedly on the .500 major confernece syndrome.

Disagree with you to the extent it's laughable that a new coach will come into the BSC and assume the thrown from Robin. They've been trying for 27 years. And if he wanted it to be so, they'd be trying for another 27 as well.

NO ONE will challenge Robin. He's one of the top 5 women's coaches in the country.

PSU may not win a title immediately. But I'm fully confident that it will happen within 2-4 years. The Hottie is THAT good.

I'd have to admit that Portland St. only loses one player from last year, as far as I know, and that was G/F Heather Arns.

They do have a good nucleus for their perimeter game in players: 5'9" Jr. G Jenni Ritter, 5'9" So. G Claire Faucher & 5' 10" Jr. G/F Kelsey Kahle.
But do they have the frontcourt personnel? Maybe a year will help the younger players develop: 6' 2" So. F Erin Yankus, 6' 1" So. P/F Janie Bos with 6' 0" Sr. G/F Delaney Conway & transfer 5' 11" Jr. G/F Stephisha Walton.
They did sign a 6' 3" post player for the up-coming season in 6' 3" Courtney Cremer but I'd say they're a year away from a top four in the BSC.
That's been the main problem that I know about; good, sometimes great, performances from their guards but hardly any help from those closest to the basket in defense or offense. Time will tell I guess.
