LadyGriz Lady Griz Recruiting: 2025+

Well we just lost another MT BB player to MSU--granted her mother is a Cat alum BB player but why do the Kittens keep getting MT players and we get virtually none. There is something wrong in the recruiting battles and I have no idea what the problem is. In the Holsinger era, Wacker is the lone recruit from in state (yes I acknowledge we have two walk-ons but they were not recruits) while the Kittens have at least 5 during the same period and O'Conner the most recent Kitten recruit has a younger sister who will be another Kitten recruit. Something needs to change

I can't help but think his purge of MT players left a bad taste in the mouths of MT high school coaches, players, and parents. Last night the players (Murphy, Keller, and Albrecht) he didn't need four years ago scored 21, 20, and 30 points. I'm not saying these players would have been world beaters for the LG, but maybe he could have been patient and tried to develop them rather than get them to move on- what would have been the harm? Did he really gain anything with 1/2 the players he brought in (many of whom have also moved on)?

Lots and lots of talent in the state the entire tenure of Brian and Harris his top Assistant

We believe he overlooked the talent in the state and he felt like the programs needs could be met elsewhere.

The real questions are how many of the numerous MT GBB recruits who have gone or committed elsewhere actually beem recruited by Brian's staff? How many home visits in those players homes? How many campus visits were made to Missoula? Those are the answers Brian and his staff need to answer if he wants to start keeping in state talent in Missoula.

Quinn from Frenchtown is now a stretch to stay local in our.opinion. The only saving grace s she plays for Meta and there is a connection to Brian with that program.

With Wooley now on staff with his knowledge of in-state players and acquaintance with numerous Montana HS coaches, they have had a great many recruits in for visits this summer and fall.

True, Wooley will help, but isnt Harris a MT product? He also coached at MSU. He should have a very good idea of the state, the talent and the HS coaches.

Nate Harris is a Montana native. According to his UM bio, he was born in Sidney, grew up in Ronan, and played his college ball at Montana Tech. Also started his coaching career at Tech as a volunteer assistant coach after he graduated from there in 2007 before becoming a full-time assistant for the next two years after that.

That's a lot of coverage in the state.

With all the contacts that 2 assistants have in the state, we should just not be losing good MT players. I think there is more to this than we know. We can get some very good players from Washington, Colorado and Canada but not in state. Does Brian not think MT players are what he wants--who knows?

EWU has two MT Class AA frosh getting a little time. McElmurry from Sentinel (any Griz family connections) and Grossman from Billings West.

A 6'1" SG/SF that averaged 22.2 ppg last year. A Portal entry/recruit? [Classof2022] out of high school, seemingly.
She sounds like a great addition. But seems odd that she played 2 years at CCU and no mention of where she is now. Did she take a year off?

The link provided above has her still playing for CCU. Starting 4 of 4 games so far for this 2024-25 season; starting 17 of their previous 21 games over the last couple years. If so, would that mean that she has only one year of eligibility left?

So, she is currently playing at CCU, but announcing mid-season that next year she will be a Lady Griz? That's crazy!

So when will she be eligible to play for the LGriz? Next semester? Next Fall? I don't ever remember seeing a transfer player get to begin playing for a new school mid school year.
Question answered last night by Coach H. at Hoop Club. Maggie will start school Winter semester. She will practice with the team and be eligible to play next season.

So a redshirt this year, I guess, and be a RS-Jr. next year with two years eligibility?

Anyways, looks to be a baller as #41 in:

Looks like Rae Ehrman (#20 dark jersey) put up 38 points in a 23 November 2024 game against team DeLaSalle. One of her teammates, #33 Tori Schlagel, I hear is going to South Dakota to continue her career:

Where did those players go?

Looks like everyone is holding strong with their commitment at this point. I didn't see any decommitments wjth BH being gone.
