I guess since the big topic for recruiting is getting the 'bigs' one possibility that could be construed as a possible recruit/prospect could be one Jacey Eggers. Eggers plays for the 4A State Champion Woodinville Falcons, State of
Washington; State Tournament MVP. Listed now by both hudl and maxpreps as 6'3" and as a P/PF with Division 1 potential. Might be another possibility, red-shirt a year and who knows? Might even be under the radar so to speak:

Talented. Coaches daughter. Her father was HC at Bellevue College for a long time and is now AD. Soft hands and good feet. We know she has offers just cannot find those at the moment. Watched her play this Spring with FOH (Friends of Hoop) which her father founded on the boys side a while back

Below is a tweet from a very well respected evaluator

Rumor has it she committed to EWU or at least has an offer.

Nice to know that Bella Hays is the older sister of Layla Hays out of Wasilla, Alaska.

Our apologies....We heard Eggers is committed to EWU (or at least has an offer). Layla Hays is another outstanding BIG. Big Frame, finishes over each shoulder, runs the floor, soft hands, soft touch, great feet. The whole package for a big with that size. Legit size as well...6'6 with a great frame to shape into a force inside the paint. She already has a bevy of top tier P5 programs on her.

Couture has committed to Idaho.

We heard her final group was MSU, Utah St, Idaho and Boise St. Not sure if she ever visited all of those schools, but Idaho clearly impressed her enough to commit even with a full spring and summer to play. This leaves Gunlock as a quality 25' still on the board in the state of MT. Are we missing any other 25's in the state of MT with D1 potential?

We have heard that Bears has committed to Saint Martins in the GNAC. We know that she was on campus for UM elite camp.

O.K. I see. From what you stated I can infer the definition of PNR as 'Pick-and-Roll' and DHO as 'Dribble-Hand-Off.'

Recently, I guess, Alyssa Wirth, a 6'4" P from Altoona, Wisconsin, decommitted from Minnesota due to coaching change. Been already offered by Utah so I guess still a legitimate recruit [Class2024]:

Sure do like what Rainey Welson brings to the court [Class2025]:

Agree with you on Wirth being available and a legit big who can play at the BSC level for sure. Not so sure Utah has offered. Coming off a knee injury and did not play as well this past spring as the year prior when gaining the offer and commitment to Minnesota. If Holsinger wants true legit size she would be one of the bigger, if not the biggest post in the conference. Skilled soft hands and good feet. Mobility and lateral speed should improve when she gets that knee back to feeling 100%.

As far as the PNR and DHO that will be a consideration when looking for recruits with LG. The PNR is 14% of the the LG offense (with the handler as the primary scoring threat). With all those LG guards coming off ball screens finding the right big to attack is what coaches look for. IE....why you see Gfeller in those situations a lot vs other PNR/DHO heavy teams. The LG face almost 20% of the defensive possessions are against PNR actions. Again, that is why coaches look for posts that can play both offensively and defensively in those actions. The good better outweigh the bad for a big otherwise that means sitting the bench or dropping down a level.

Somehow I misread the offerings and the verbal. I guess, for what little I know, Utah had offered 29 July 22, Wirth verballed to Minnesota 12 August 22, after the Minnesota offer was evidently originally 13 July 22. I misread the Utah offer as 'if' after the decommit of 28 March 23, but I had the wrong year.
Strange though. Alyssa Wirth had unofficial visits to Kansas St., Nebraska-Omaha, Wisconsin and St. Thomas, and official offers from Youngstown St., North Dakota, IUPUI and Utah before her injury, but after her injury I don't know if offers before a verbal to another school requires a second offering if a previous verbal is rescinded. Those that 'have' offered since her decommitment are Roosevelt, Ferris St., Southern Indiana and Northern Illinois. Interesting.

One would think a redshirt year for a full recovery to be a consideration.

So far:

Gia Powell of Edmonds, Wash. has committed to Brown University of the Ivy League.
Jaecy Eggers of Woodinville, Wash, has committed to Eastern Washington
Lauryn Madsen of Warden, Wash. has committed to UC Irvine
Chloe Deharo of Spokane, Wash. has committed to Northwest Nazarene (Div. II)
Maddy Weaver of Puyallup, Wash. has committed to Chaminade Univ. of Hawaii (Div. II)
Belle Bramer of San Jose, Calif. has Committed to Lehigh.
Annie Gibbons of Issaquah, Wash. has committed to Westmont College (Div. II)

Emily McElmurry of Missoula Sentinel has received an offer from Carroll College (rated a three-star on prospectsnation.com):

Would be nice if McKylee Hawkins & Kayla Lorenz, both out of Bothell, Washington, different high schools evidently, had an official/unofficial visit to the University of Montana campus/sports arena.

I guess Wirth has committed to someplace called Ferris State.

She flips from Idaho to Montana State. I hadn't heard much recently but I know there wasn't much traction for her to stay in Missoula and play here.

Follows a bit of a recent trend with Missoula based players for the LG. If I were to guess, there might be a bit more effort to retain the services of the Quinn girl from Frenchtown. I think she's getting a ton of looks from all over the place, so that isn't going to be an easy task.

Ouch. Men and Women have had a rough go lately of keeping local-ish talent here.

Yeah, had a discussion about this at length a week or two ago with a friend. I really do think the perception, particularly on the girls side of the ledger, is that there is A LOT of embittered adults about who and what the LG program is. Such a weird thing about the dynamics in Missoula, but knowing some of the scenarios, wouldn't be surprised that some are carrying a grudge from October of 1993.

Some of it was entirely self inflicted, as the Schweyen debacle didn't help the scenario with a few players and parents, and there is a perception that Holsinger is hostile to recruiting Montana, let alone Missoula kids. I think some of the issues are self serving, but I'd lean on Holsinger's assessment of Couture, if they didn't she was in their plans. Like I said, I don't think there was much traction at any point from either side for her to play in Missoula. Don't know what led to that, can't say, but I just didn't get a sense that UM was ever on the radar.

Someone else might (and likely does) know more, but is just where we are at.

I'm annoyed that quite a bit of local talent is "good enough" to get offers to other Big Sky Schools, but not to UM. Yes, they can always say so....but it is bad optics if you don't even offer. IMO it's better to get something posted like this and the local player ends up going somewhere else. Makes it feel like they aren't even trying with the more local talent.

I was very impressed with Kourtney Grossman of Billings West at State AA. Super athlete, both volleyball and basketball. 6'0, seemed a little raw with ball handling skills but those will come. Shot it well tough defender and rebounder. Lady Griz need athletic defenders and rebounders!

She and McElmurry were the best players outside of Williams in the AA tourney. Both committed are to EWU.

Did Lady Griz offer either?

I don't see where McElmurry has committed to EWU. The previous post says "offered." Likely she will commit, but not presently.
