Whitefish's Ferda to be a Lady Griz
By the Missoulian

Ashley Ferda of Whitefish has accepted an offer to play basketball for the University of Montana following her senior year, said Tim Olson, the Bulldogs' head basketball coach.

Ferda has been a three-sport letterwinner for the Bulldogs.

Ferda, a 5-foot-6 point guard, has been a varsity starter since her freshman year at Whitefish. She was named All-State in both her sophomore and junior years.

Ferda has led the Northwestern A in scoring the past two seasons and last year as a junior she averaged 17.5 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists per game.

when i was a kid, visiting my aunt mildred in polson, we'd pile all pile in her jeep and travel to the inner city, whitefish, so this works for me.

I am glad it works for you because your post is strange, very strange.

1. Is she Scott Ferda's daughter?

2. So, counting Hurley, this makes two commits for next year's Lady Griz. How many scholarships will we have open?

Closson, Conway, and Cote will be Seniors so my guess is there are 3 available scholarships, unless someone were to leave. I am guessing that she is either Scott's daughter or a relative.

I thought I also read that she was the Class A 100 meter track champion so she also has some wheels. It might have even said 2 time champion but I could not find the original article.

If we have a schollie left Darnellia Russell is available. It would be nice to finally see a young African American woman on the team. Darnellia is world famous since the movie "The Heart of the Game" and would bring some nice attention and press to our women's program. Plus she's one heck of a player, she led Roosevelt to the Washington 4A State Championship.

The Griz are/were recruiting pretty hard high ranked 5-5 p. guard Monica Nevi of Hazen Senior HS of Renton, WA. She was also being recruited by California, UCLA, Utah State, and Washington. I wonder if the signing of Ferda (also a point Guard) signals that she has committed elsewhere.
