Lady Griz/PSU

LG struggling a little with PSU's zone. They are so athletic they can really get to open shooters in a hurry.

LOVE the crowd noise and intensity!! Thanks to all of you who are there. You're really making a difference!

Lady Griz by 11!!

almost a sellout (6700 plus) and I was one of them :) ....great game! Rogers applied dagger after dagger to PSU. :D

I think this game showed perfectly why it's so much fun to watch the Lady Griz play!

Right from the start, you could tell this was going to be a close game. Both sides came out fierce; for about the first ten minutes though, it really looked like the Viks were going to control the ball most of the time. The first half was crazy, plenty of good shots for both teams and the LG really took control with about five minutes left. Though the teams went into the half tied, the momentum was definetly on the side of the LG.

The LG pulled away quick in the second half; we would hit a shot, PSU would try to match and sometimes did but they struggled far more to hit shots than we did. It was overall a great time, but it's hard to not be sad about our seniors. While this is just the natural process of people moving on, and though we have a great bench ready to take the spotlight, our seniors will be missed quite a bit.

And on a side note...#10 for PSU, Claire Faucher...is freakishly good.

Congrats Lady Griz. Just got back from the game and getting my tournament tickets. So, I am set for next week.

Now, for the rest of the 6,700 fans that were here today. Get your ticket for next weeks games now.

Going to miss the 4 seniors. That is 40+ points that will need to be made up by someone or a few of the players on the bench.

Also, Congrats Stephanie Stender. I am awarding you the bench player of the game. I think they should have two awards. Player of the game, and bench player of the game.

Looking at the stats:

Mandy had a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds.
Sarah Ena had a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds.

Sonya had 22 points on 8 - 15 and 6 - 8 from 3 pt line.

Faucher of PSU had 9 assists. But only 1 in the second half. Lady Griz played better defense not allowing the players away from the ball get open like what happened a number of times in the first half.

PSU's Kelsey Kahle is the third leading scorer in Big Sky Conference history behind ISU's Doma and Lady Griz player Shannon Cate, but I have yet to see her play well or score a lot of points here in Missoula against the Lady Griz. She scored only 11 points and fouled out today.

Both teams were even in rebounding at 40 apiece. PSU outrebounded Lady Griz 20 - 16 in first half, and Lady Griz outrebounded PSU 24 - 20 in second half.

Lady Griz dominated on second chance points 18 - 8.

Maybe and Indication of the future: Lady Griz bench out scored PSU's bench 26 - 8. Of course, Sarah Ena is responsible for most of that. But, Stender played a real nice game, and scoring 6 points was great.

Just loved Sonya taking a charge on Kahle's drive to the basket. Took Kahle right out of the game.

Fauche will likely break Brooklyn Lorenzen's career assist record by time she graduates. But, she will never touch Lorenzens Assist/Turnover ratio. Not even close.

The LG are a bunch of scrappers and none so more than Sarah Ena who refused to be denied her space under the basket. The crowd was great, but I didn't see anybody sticking around for the men's game, but there's better ways to kill a couple hours than in an empty Dahlberg Area. Like the Press Box.

WHO SAID THEY LIKE THE LG RADIO CREW? The best thing about being at the game was not having to listen to Tom Stage's grammar-challenged side kick. No self-respecting school with an English department (UM) should ever let this guy on the air without his first taking a couple of semesters of Remedial English 101. I'm embarrassed for him - and UM athletics. Just Pathetic!

Congrats LADY GRIZ, What a prized and cherished gem the LADY GRIZ and Robin Selvig are!!!! Thanks again.

Sidenote: I would not even think of replacing Mick in basketball and football. Mick is to GRIZNATION what Harry Carry,(sp?) Chick Hearn, Vin Scully, Jack Buck, insert your announcer here, are/were to their respected teams.

Micks signature calls are "TOUCHDOWN MONTANA" (nobody will ever make something so simple so good like Mick does). Of course my favorite "Down the Pickle Barrel." (Thanks Mick for your time and what you are to GRIZNATION.)

No way Mick should be replaced. I will agree that Tom does a very nice job on the LG games. But I agree fully with this statement:

Tom Stage's grammar-challenged side kick. No self-respecting school with an English department (UM) should ever let this guy on the air without his first taking a couple of semesters of Remedial English 101. I'm embarrassed for him

The color guy is embarrassing. Today I heard these errors (plus others):

"I seen that comin'".

"Ain't"

" We didn't have no say in that one"

I'm sorry. While those may be fairly common phrases, they're lazy and have no place on a radio broadcast for a University.
