Did Selvig limit Lexi's transfer options? I would love to see her eventually in a Bobcat uniform because she would fit really well with Binford's group as far as her skill set goes.

Not a huge loss in my opinion. Nothing worse than meddling parents who not only think their kid is so damn great, they think they know more about basketball than Selvig. reminds me of ShortyDillPickle...another total loser.

And, do you think it was a "bonehead move" when Mandy Morales, the second- most proficient scorer in Montana history, decided to leave Arizona State and return to Montana to play basketball? I will refresh your memory lest you forgot:

The senior was a unanimous selection to the first team, along with Portland State's Kelsey Kahle and Claire Faucher. Morales and Faucher were also unanimous first-team selections in 2007-08.

Looks like Nelson is heading to Eastern Washington. She worked out with Eastern yesterday and all things point to her ending up there.

That surprises me a little, it is common practice for coaches to limit transfer to schools outside of their conference, but it appears Selvig did not do this.

So as far as you know the statements about "the Grady Bennett Rule" where if an athlete transfers schools within the big sky has to sit out 2 years does not apply to women's bball?

The Grady Bennett rule was rescinded a few years back. The same spring Taylor transferred from EWU to UM

Nelson transfers to Eastern Washington

Lexie Nelson is leaving the University of Montana, but she's not leaving the Big Sky Conference.

Butte High's all-time leading scorer will transfer to Eastern Washington University in Cheney, Nelson said Friday night.

"I just decided today," Nelson said in a phone interview. "I am looking forward to the opportunity."

Nelson played in all 33 games for Montana last season, averaging 3.3 points per game.

Nelson declined to specify why she is transferring from Montana.

"I appreciate the opportunity I was given to be a part of their program," Nelson said. "But moving to another program will be a better fit. I think it will work out."

Nelson will have to redshirt next season. Then she'll have three years of eligibility remaining.

"It will be difficult not being on the court," she said. "I can help in other ways, whether it's pushing them (her teammates) in practice or being on the bench during games."

Nelson said that several schools expressed interest in her after the news of her transferring broke early last week. She said she was always attracted to Eastern Washington.

"Their program is on the rise," Nelson said. "I really like the the coach (Wendy Schuller). She's really motivated and wants to win."
