Lady Griz - ISU Game

Just came back from the game. Yes, ISU was physical (no surprise). Yes, the officiating was the worst I've seen for a women's game this year.

But post-game the coach blamed his players. He needs to look in the mirror on this one.

And, if they don't foul, and get the ball on a violation, UM could set the defense, or even taken a wild shot to hit the rim, or be fouled in process. Instead, they drive to no where and turned it over.....game over because of panic finish.

Idaho State played good defense all night. Stopped the initial drive. Lady Griz had to shoot and were up only 1. Defense made initial stop and Lady Griz didn't make a play. You'd coach your team to just let the shot clock run out so you can set up defense to protect a 1 point lead? Really?
hindsight is always great but I would coach a team to get that ball into the best hands and most speedy athlete. Neither happened. So, that's that. A fun game to watch and this year, I think I have watched UM Lady Griz more than the men as they are a better team, generally. I stopped watching the LG at the middle of the NCAA women's game with Pitt years ago. The style and pace is more exciting now and I see good things ahead for Montana, beginning next year. Still, I wonder why they need so many coaches on the floor. Looks confusing...

What a terrible call by the ref last night against the lady’s. You can either agree or disagree with the call but in that situation you do not let the game be decided by the refs. It was a questionable call to begin with. The ISU Player from my vantage point on the tv appeared to jump into the defender. It could be argued if the Griz had just stood her ground there may not have been a call. I don’t think during the review the refs were looking at the foul but the time remaining? I had my sound muted because I was double dipping, back and forth between the men and woman’s game.
I’d preferred the Vandals claimed they got homered rather than the other way around. Regardless I’ve really enjoined watching the ladies more so than the men this year. I’m more excited about the ladies future than the mens at this point.

Consistency or lack of is going to be the downfall for the Lady Griz this year. Talent is there for sure but to many silly mistakes and in some games they look like they could win the conference and other times they look like a last place team. They need to win out the remaining 5 games but that is going to be tough but not impossible if they will be consistent

It is one of the most common mistakes by referees -- calling the action and not the foul, i.e., it looks like there must have been a foul from the action but the ref does not actually see the foul.

LG got beat, imply put. The Sammy foul, anchored in the ISU win, she got beat by a quick and fast player who had open channel to the hoop. ISU got the ball to their highest % FT shooter, and that's good B-Ball.

Agree with GrizzlyJournal on this one. ISU run the same offensive play over and over and Bourne scored over and over.... How about a defensive adjustment. IMO, Seton out coached Brian.. Lets hope Brian learned something from it.
