Lady Griz going down hill? No. Going sideways? At the Least. Going Uphill? Maybe. The game against Florida State tomorrow will help a little in determining how these questions are answered.
As bad as the last 3 games were (all losses), this was the best game for the Lady Griz. Maine Black Bears do have a good team and the Lady Griz blew them out. And the Lady Griz did not blow them out due to hot shooting which is why put this game as a maybe for the question on whether Lady Griz are going uphill. The Lady Griz only shot 40% from the field.
But, defense was absolutely the best I have seen all year from this team. So much better than what I have seen in the game against Gonzaga. These girls were active and moving. Not slow footed like they were against Gonzaga, and anticipating each pass from the other team which created 11 steals for the Lady Griz, and created 17 turnovers for Maine.
Lady Griz offense was very efficient today. May not have shot the ball well, but turned the ball over only 8 times for the whole game.
Lady Griz outrebounded Maine 47 to 28, made the first 21 free throws before Jody Mcleod missed 4, and made an overall 23 of 27 free throws.

Johanna Clossen 17 points 9 rebounds
Holly Tyler 16 points 9 rebounds
Katie Edwards 14 points
Okay, Griz play Florida State tomorrow. This will be one big test for how good of defense Holly Tyler can play. Ganiyat Adeduntan is one good center and scored 22 points against Louisville. Florida State is 12 - 0 this year, and if Lady Griz win today, it will help answer my question whether Lady Griz are on the up and up for this year.
