Montana and Eastern Washington both started their conference seasons with wins tonight. The Lady Griz started conference play with a 85-67 win over Portland State, while Eastern beat Montana State in Bozeman 69-66. Sonya Rogers had a career night against the Vikings by scoring 27 points with Mandy Morales going above 30 points for the fourth time this season, with 31 points of her own. As for the Eagles, well, they got a good scare from the Bobcats and could be in for a tough game on Saturday night. Eastern is running into a buzzsaw that is the Lady Griz and Dahlberg Arena.

3 impressive performances. Morales near triple double, Rogers and Guardipee stepping up big time.

I expect a big night from Mandy (ho hum) with the LG winning by 25. This team is special. Now if we can get 6000 people there we would be a good place to play. Unfortunately, I will be in Kalispell for drill and not in Missoula. Get to the game folks. We could have a nationally ranked team by Monday. That would be sweet. When was the last time the LG were ranked? It could not be that long ago.

For anyone that's curious about how Eastern has done as a team this year.

Damn it, what to do? Finally a LG game not conflicting with mens game. Go figure brother's bday and Dallas/Seahawk playoff game. Damnit, I am GRIZ fan 1st and foremost, LG it is!!! Then take brother out to get tanked after the game.

The LG won't crack the top 25 unless several teams ahead of them get beat. There is only one other team in the BSC with a winning record, so the LG are not going to pass any teams ranked ahead of them by beating up on the BSC. I think the LG will have to get into the 20 plus win column with no more losses to have a sniff at a top 25 ranking. If the LG run the table, they might get high enough to get an at large if they stumbled in the BSC Tournament. If they play like they have been, that won't happen. :twocents:

The Lady Griz sure gave the Eagles quite a beating. For the second straight game, Tamara Guardipee had a double-double, and snapped Mandy's streak of being the top scorer by pitching in 18 points and 10 boards. Morales had only 11 points in what I would consider an off-night for her. Britney Lohman had a great night off the bench, scoring 13 points as did Laura Cote with 10.

Only one Eastern player scored in double-digits, and it was their top scorer Joanna Chadd, with only 12 points, but two of their players got double-digit rebounds. Sydney Benson had 12 rebounds and Tara Holgate had 10. But other than that, Montana gave Eastern a taste of the same medicine that Ohio State gave them in the Ohio State Invitational championship game. Great effort by the Lady Griz tonight.
