Moving with a sense of urgency does not mean not thoroughly vetting other qualified candidates. These things are not mutually exclusive. The downside is Trish Binford is out watching the girls tournaments right now occurring across the state, and she probably has her assistants doing the same not only in Montana but other NW states as well, and the girls and their parents she is watching know she is the long-term MSU coach and will be back next year. When Coach Binford talks to a prospective recruit, she acts as the MSU HC for the 2025-26 season and can tell this to the girl and her parents if she wants to offer a girl.
If Nate Harris and Linday Woolley are out watching the Montana high school girls tournaments, what do they tell a girl and her parents when the girl and/or her parents ask them if they'll be the LG coaches next year ?
" Definitely maybe !"
" Don't know "
" Don't know but if I am not the Lady GRIZ coach next year, I am sure you'll like whomever is named our next head coach."
It's Coaches' Christmasright now with divisional and state high-school bball tournaments not only in Montana but across the Pacufic NW. Haslam needs to move with a sense of urgency and remove the interim tag by naming Nate Harris our LG next head coach ASAP !!!

If so, it should be a done deal. The other interview was a courtesy because of well-deserved respect. Let’s hope it’s announced tomorrow.Decsion has been made. Heard final 2 interviewed were... Harris and MacIntrye (Sullivan). Not sure if anyone else interviewed
I’d be fine with either of those.Decsion has been made. Heard final 2 interviewed were... Harris and MacIntrye (Sullivan). Not sure if anyone else interviewed
It would even be better with Sullivan and try and retain both Nate and Woolley with big pay raises if we are going to compete with the cats!I’d be fine with either of those.
I forgot to say if Jordan likes thatIt would even be better with Sullivan and try and retain both Nate and Woolley with big pay raises if we are going to compete with the cats!
I think that would be the dream scenario IMO. Jordan may be able to bring some players with her from Utah.It would even be better with Sullivan and try and retain both Nate and Woolley with big pay raises if we are going to compete with the cats!
It would be nice to know which players Jordan recruited to Utah. It looks like they have a couple of highly rated players from Minnesota but that looks to be Ryan Larsen's recruiting since he seems to have more connections to Minnesota.I think that would be the dream scenario IMO. Ryan Larsen only recently came to Utah this yr. He didn't recruit 1 player to Utah as he came to Utah from Wyoming after Lynn Robert's bolted for the LA Sparks about a month into the season. Roughly Nov/Dec.
Prepare to have a new coach announced this morning!According to an article on www.missoulian.com, Haslam is trying to wrap up the hiring process by end of the week. So, it really looks like there won't be any announcement until early next week.
You’re going to be happy soon!CARSON CASHION 406 MT Sports | Posted: Monday, March 17, 2025 5:30 pm
MISSOULA — Montana athletic director Kent Haslam spoke with 406 MT Sports Monday regarding the vacant Lady Griz basketball head coaching position.
He said the university is hoping to wrap up the process as soon as, "the end of the week."
The NCAA transfer portal opens for women's basketball on Tuesday, March 25, placing an emphasis on getting the position filled promptly, Haslam said. The portal will be open for one month, closing again April 23.
Montana has been consistently active in the portal in recent years, adding rotation stalwarts like MJ Bruno, Aby Shubert and Tyler McCliment-Call. A resolution to the coaching search is critical to take advantage of the portal window.
"We are busy searching for a new head coach and want it wrapped up as soon as possible," Haslam said.
While Haslam said there was neither a public list of finalists for the position, nor a list of interviewed candidates, Lady Griz interim head coach Nate Harris will likely be one of the names to follow.
After taking the helm when former head coach Brian Holsinger took a leave of absence Jan. 15, formally resigning Feb. 10, Harris led Montana to a 7-7 record through the remaining Big Sky Conference schedule. The Lady Griz entered the Big Sky tournament as the No. 6 seed, embarking on a surprising run that sent UM to the championship game against Montana State after upset wins over Idaho and Northern Arizona.
Montana lost on a buzzer-beater from Bobcat junior Marah Dykstra, but the week in Boise boosted Harris' record leading the Lady Griz to 9-8. Harris led UM to its first Big Sky chipper appearance since 2015.

"placing an emphasis on getting the position filled promptly, Haslam said."
You have had since Jan. 15th you knew the resignation was coming.

Every second you, delay putting the new head coach in place,
you, put the Lady Griz program further and further behind the rest of the county in the recruiting process. The Ladys have some big shoes to fill.
you name a new coach on Friday, that gives them 3days to put their staff together to build our next Lady Griz Basketball team.
the Lady Griz faithful are an aging group, we do not have a whole lot of next years left in our bag, the name of the game is
paying ass's in the seats.
so watching a middle of the conference team,
well we can do that from home on TV, its way easier than trudging threw the snow and ice.
finding a new head coach is a crap shoot, 50/50 anybody can talk a story in an interview, backing that up is the proof that we want.
Harris proved to Griz Nation that he can do it.
Ya Ya I can hear you all, but Harris was 9-8,
OK, but just how much time did the He and the coaching staff have to put their plan in place, between travel & games, dealing with the BS left for them to clean up.
So unless you are talking to Molly Miller, Geno or Niele Ivey what is the delay? It better be big or
This is some Bxx Sxxx
Its just the process. They have to have a hiring committee and an open process. If it is the same as when I participated in one a decade ago at an NAIA school in Montana, they have to have a student representative and a staff representative on it. Its somewhat of a sham process, but I believe it has to be followed for legal reasons as a public job at a University receiving taxpayer money.CARSON CASHION 406 MT Sports | Posted: Monday, March 17, 2025 5:30 pm

Coach Wooley is the brainsI know this is available elsewhere on eGriz, but feel it's appropriate in this thread. This is the post-game championship game press conf. with Nate Harris, Dani Bartsch and MJ Bruno. The entire 12 minutes -- I believe -- provides eloquent classy, emotive, fact-based evidence in favor of Harris (and full staff) being hired to lead this program forward. The emotional stuff is convincing, no doubt. But the why of Montana making it to the championship game go far beyond emotion. Harris reveals the strategic specifics of how the Griz absorbed every punch & countered the Bobcat attack with a pressure-breaking offensive set that coach Woolley located only this week. Emotional yes, but also evidence that these coaches know the nitty gritty stuff that makes a team better game by game. This video is further evidence why these coaches have earned the right to continue leading this program. P.S. I love Dani casually dropping a Pat Summit quote and applying it directly to an embarrassed Nate! Go GrizWBB!
