LADY GRIZ BEAT NAU WITH STUNNING COMEBACK

Great win by the Griz men in Flagstaff but even BETTER "W" by Lady Griz who beat Lady Jacks 70-62 in OT. This after trailing by as many as 21 and down 15 at halftime. These girls showed plenty of grit, moxie, and heart. If you live anywhere close to Missoula get out and see them in person. Kudos LADIES!

I have to admit watching the first half I wondered if the Griz might be looking for a new coach this March. I know it’s almost sac religious to think of firing one of the best players in UK history .

But that comeback was amazing!!!
Down by 21 and win by 8 in OT.
Simply awesome

Why is it that the first instinct of egrizzers, faced with some bad play, is to contemplate firing the coach? The LG have lost their two best players to knee injuries two years in a row. They are playing mostly Freshman and Sophomores. I think Shannon can be forgiven some inconsistency of play from this team.

Hard for me to believe you would think that. Shannon is in her 2nd year and has lost her 2 best players each year. This team is young and the next two years could be great. They have no quit and are getting better.

Is UK the United Kingdom or the University of Kentucky? Just kidding I know it is a typo.

Shannon isn't going anywhere anytime soon. I was so pumped seeing this final score after following how much they were down on Twitter throughout the night.

Lady Griz couldn't throw it in the ocean (as usual), and were getting creamed by a bad NAU squad. Congrats on the ugly win.

These girls get school paid for? :thumb:

In all fairness, the first half was more than missing shots (most of which were open and very makeable). It was full of missed assignments, being out of position, allowing the same defensive breakdowns to occur over and over again... I am sure that was the basis of the comment regarding the coaching. We just aren't used to seeing a Lady Griz team flounder on the basics. This effort was not the result of the second year without out senior stars.

That having been said the grit, determination and attitude to fight back after being down 21 into the third is invaluable and tells us where this still young team is heading. Any success it has will be tied to a team effort and leaving it all on the floor from 1 through about 10.

Keeping this attitude on this team after all the trials and tribulations is a real comment on Shannon and her staff's ability. Congrats to her for keeping the fire burning and not letting the down sides overwhelm her. This is a very tough assignment.

As they work in the right direction, they should consider focusing on the basics too.

Not saying that if I was the AD I would pull the trigger

But It crossed my mind that UM might

7-23 last year
And a loss would have put them at 4-8 this year.

You know that she is on a plateau with Dave, think about that again.

Excellent win for the LG program last night. That was a character and confidence building rally that will pay dividends for these players down the road. Nice to see Shannon get her Griz on and turn that game around in the second half. Jace was really impressive on the boards when it was really needed.

I really hope this is a joke... Yes it was an ugly first half, but this is a team that didn't win their first conference game until February 9 last year. They started conference 0-11. Even after getting down big they fought back and got a conference win in December. There's obviously a long way to go before they're back at the top of the conference but there are really good things happening with a young team right now.
