Lady Griz 76, ISU 57

Lady Griz beat ISU, and opened up a two game lead over both ISU and WSU. Technically, the Lady Griz do have a 3 game lead due to Lady Griz having swept both of these schools. Looking forward to having the Lady Griz hosting the BSC tournament this year and hoping to see them here in Missoula playing in the NCAA tournament.

Way to go Lady Griz!!! What a tough team. Best in the Big Sky. Bar none, no qualms, no doubt! God how I would love to see them go far (obviously the entire way). How cool would that be if they beat a few teams in the playoffs to hit at least the final four.

Next week pay attention to the women's top 25. I'll bet Montana begins to get some more votes. I think over the past few weeks they've been getting 6 or 7 top 25 votes, but now with 2 solid wins against good conference teams, they might be getting a little more national attention.

WTG Lady Griz, keep that streak going inot the BSC tourney and lets see what happens after that!

And the results are in:

#34 in RPI
#34 in AP poll with 9 points in voting
#30 in the coaches poll with 18 points...wow

Five games to go and about 40 points away from the Top 25. If they finish the season with 4 losses, its going to be tough for the media and coaches to keep this team out of the rankings.

Still only getting 12 seeds in the bracket projections though. Nothing wrong with that since nobody wants the cursed 5 seed. I would say a 12 seed is probably going to be what the team gets no matter what happens, much like the Gonzaga mens team that finished in top 10 and only received a 6 seed in the tourney. It's hard to get respect out of the northwest.

take another look at espn. They have the Griz as a 10 seed in the mideast opening with Old Dominion and a second round contest possible against purdue.

Hope the Lady Griz can keep it up. The Lady Griz schedule the rest of the season is kind of weak though. One slip up and votes may just dissappear. The RPI of the Lady Griz opponents for the rest of the season will not help the Lady Griz climb much higher. Will need to win decisively the rest of the way, and win the Big Sky Conference tournament, and hopefully ISU or Weber State will be the team Lady Griz win in the championship. ISU would be preferable as the Bengals RPI is higher.

I still wish Lady Griz didn't lose to Gonzaga. That is the Lady Griz's worst loss. If Lady Griz won that game, top 25 would be closer than it is now.

Lady Griz did beat two teams (Utah and Memphis) with an RPI rating in the top 50. That is better than Utah, who hasn't beaten any team with an RPI in the top 50 but is ranked higher than the Lady Griz in both polls and RPI. Utah is in a better conference though and has played more teams in the top 100, plus hasn't lost to any team below 100.

The latest RPI rating I saw for the Lady Griz was #35, on ESPN site. The RPI rankings was updated February 15th. What is the source that had the Lady Griz at #34?

Also, the bracket projections from this guy is meaningless. Lady Griz have climbed each month in the bracket projections, but one had the Lady Griz in the east, and there is no way the lady griz will be sent there. And I am almost certain they won't be in the mideast. I think the Lady Griz, if they win out in decisive fashion, could be seeded 8th or 9th.

College RPI is a great source. The guy who runs it puts a lot of work into it. It used to be free up until a couple years ago. I used to check the website almost everyday. The women's side is still totally free (at least for the rest of this season). Here's a quick resume for the site

Unique, expert analysis of the RPI, the NCAA tournament and college basketball.
Access to all of the site's historical data, including current season archive.
Daily updates of the ratings.
Strength of schedule listings.
Conference ratings.
Enhanced team data pages.
More frequent bracket projections (at that time of year).
Complete tournament history.

And as for his accuracy of bracket projections, here are the stats from last year's women's tourney projection:

31 of 33 at large teams correct and 55/64 within one seed of actual
