Lady Griz 66, Baden Sports 51

Lady Griz started out real bad the first 10 minutes of the game, scoring only 6 points. Luckily the other team played just as bad.

Rest of the game was much better, scoring 60 points the rest of the way. The other team didn't exactly look much better the rest of the way.

For the first game against somebody else, this was pretty good. Especially since they only had 11 practice days prior to this.

Leading Scorers:

Tamara Guardipee 16 points, 12 rebounds, 3 blocks, and 1 no look pass behind her for an assist.

Mandy Morales, 9 points, 12 rebounds, 5 assists, 1 turnover.
Sonya Rogers, 9 points, 4 assists.
Laura Cote, 8 points
Dana Conway, 7 points, 8 rebounds


Next is Deja Vu.
Will be a better team than Baden Sports. Baden Sports was a good team to start with being the first game and allowing Selvig to play many players. Will need to get the young players with plenty of play time. Katie Edwards is only practicing 1 game a week because of her back, so not sure how much we can depend on her. Selvig says that Mandy's knees have been bothering her. Could affect her playing time.

The Lady Griz are young AND good.

So, you think I was complaining? Hmmm.

Besides, since there are only 3 players junior or senior, you neglected to add more freshman and sophomores to your list.

For those of you who haven't been able to see the Lady Griz:

1. Gardipee has great hands and feet. She made one great "no look" pass that was as nice as any you will see. She will need to get in better shape to contribute as she needs to, but what an amazingly pleasant surprise. Long arms and understands the game. She will be in foul trouble until she gets her defense down. She could be a great player.

2. Mandy Morales is a work of art. She will be the glue that holds the team together. She looks like a senior out there. It seems that she can score at will, but a great "team" player.

3. Rogers from Lewistown is a fine freshman guard. Excellent shooter, good quicks, doesn't have the freshman "deer in the headlight" look at all.

You will be pleasantly surprised by this group. It will fun to watch them develop, particularly on defense. Totally different look than last year.

well, since i was always complaining about that big-slow-white-girl look that just never worked once we got into the ncaa's, i'll be looking forward to this year's sleeker faster version. as for defense, i never worry about that with a robin selvig coached team.
