Ladies BB ethnic makeup.

Point well taken Ronbo, lets just say one played for Sentinel and the other for Hellgate.

Take em' both then. Competition being equal they both sound like Montana All Staters.

Ronbo, you play with who you sign and recruit. Robin constantly wins the Big Sky and makes the Tourneys with who he's got. The NCAAs are not going to give us a better seed because of diversity. If there was a lady who is african american and is thinking about the Griz I'm sure Robin will recruit her, but if another girl is a better player should he take her because of her ethnicity?

You use the talent you have and recruit.

I would take the average African American over the average white kid anyday. Proven fact that African Americans are better athletes than white kids. I think he is saying Selvig should try to start to recruit black kids to come up here and play.

Swill-

If thats the case why does Grambling suck at basketball?

Bryant Gumbel had some brilliant things to say on this topic--at least, sort of on this topic--a few days ago on his HBO show, Real sports. To wit:

"Finally, tonight, the Winter Games. Count me among those who don’t like them and won’t watch them ... Because they’re so trying, maybe over the next three weeks we should all try too. Like, try not to be incredulous when someone attempts to link these games to those of the ancient Greeks who never heard of skating or skiing. So try not to laugh when someone says these are the world’s greatest athletes, despite a paucity of blacks that makes the Winter Games look like a GOP convention. Try not to point out that something’s not really a sport if a pseudo-athlete waits in what’s called a kiss-and-cry area, while some panel of subjective judges decides who won ... So if only to hasten the arrival of the day they’re done, when we can move on to March Madness — for God’s sake, let the games begin."

What a jerk....

Gumbel is absolutely right on all counts. Who was the last fastest man alive was not black? The winter games are sort of the special olympics of race.

Abolish the winter olympics!

I realize that there are white people good at athletics, but im saying we need to expand our recruiting out of montana--that means go to california and get some kids that are BIG time! White or black.... :thumb:

I remember at least one Indian (native American) gal on the team.
Does that count?

Vicki Austin-CA
Mandy Morales-from MT
Tam Guardipee-from MT
Malia Kipp-from MT
LeAnn Montes-from MT
Brooklyn Lorenzen-Oregon

I am sure I have missed someone.

Dana Conway-MT and Schultz-MT

GummBALL has always been a pompous ass. Can't stand the idiot myself.

Oh oh. Cancel that order to abolish the Winter Olympics. The GOP Club has been integrated. Shani Davis won a good medal--the first African American to ever win a medal at the Winter Olympics. Bryant Gumbel's going to be one confused dude now.

Bryant Gumble lost most of my respect when he enthusiastically lobbied to end the Gatorade bath tradition of pouring the water on the coach after a big game, at the end of one of his shows on HBO. He pleaded with TV networks that if they quit televising it, then players would quit doing it. He said it was unsportsmanlike and ridiculous. :loser:

Is he wrong?

just get good players

no need to expand your recruiting base if you are consistantly the class of the big sky like the lady griz are....
what would be the point? almost noone has heard of montana at all and i will bet you that the players you do get are not as good as the MT ladies....

example...

which from hell *ex bobcat coach which i will refer to her as* actually hated any player from mt. i was friends with one ex lady cat...she wasnt then but now is, ended up quitting. she went on to say that the coach preferred not to recruit in MT...and look at the team now.

Well said, Hells Bells. This *coach from hell* that you refer to did most of her recruiting in Texas. While this brought a new diversity to MSU women's basketball, these girls couldn't cut it here. They all left after one year. This is probably a result of said *coach from hell.* It wasn't until the end of her tenure when Montana recruiting picked up again; by then she overstayed her welcome. I don't think Robin should change his recruiting patterns. If he sees a great player from anywhere, he usually gets her, regardless of race. I think the Lady Griz program is in just fine shape.

Well, well, well, I see mediocrity is what we settle for here. We're in a bottom feeder Conference and we never get past the first round. But......

Montana Basketball in in GREAT SHAPE.

a couple of them were alright players, one looked like she was out of shape and was hurt for most of the year from what i recall. most of her recruits were from riks (sp) junior college in Idaho....not good.

i think one of them had a sister that was the star player
and a couple of them were from bozo...but then again one was a mccarthy recruit

ronbo, I know you think you have all the answers, but you don't. You are an ignorant simpleton. Not everything in life has an either/or answer that you always seem to come up with -- school test/grades are that way, but life isn't. Life is a lot more complex, maybe when you grow up, you will learn that.

Would you please elaborate on why we arent in "GREAT SHAPE"

We just recrtuited a 7 footer, Graves, Rundles, and of course GUS CHASE!!!!! We will suffer a lose without Matthews and Criswell next year but we will be just fine with Strait Dlouhy Hasquet Ellis and everybody else. Krysko is building a great program and if we new how to close teams out we would probably have 1-2 losses right now and be in the hunt for a top 25 seed!
