Krysko no-shows for charity event

I got suckered into a poker tourney at the Sky Club Sunday night with the promise that Krysko an his wife were playing in it. It started late and I was waiting for an hour and a half before it even started. I assumed the delay was waiting for Krysko to show up. That irked me a little, as did the $5 drinks at the Sky Club bar, but I figured it's for a good cause and all. Some University department was making some $ to pay for expert lecturers or something.

Well they never showed up at all. Classic case of "bait and switch".

For a so called "charity event" there was not much publicity. Are you sure krysko even knew about it as he is at Pepperdine interviewing. If I were you I would be talking to the person who invited you, not dissing on Krysko.

It doesn't matter where he was. How do you know K even verballed an appearance? It was probably just hype to get more people to show. Maybe something else came up. Who cares.

Zirg didn't you say in a previous post that you had already lost all respect for coach K for thinking about leaving? Forgive me if that was somebody else.

not too many people i know of fly down for an interview 3 days early...

If I was interviewing down there I'd go a week early and take the family! Don't want to live down there but I'd vacation there once and a while! :thumb:

Yeah, no kidding. If I was interviewing at Pepperdine, I'd make a week-long vacation out of it.. and he's probably doing it on Pepperdine's dime!

good idea - i bet it also gets some brownie points with the wife on this one...

The fact that that gripe is on this board, AND combined with a complaint about $5 drinks says all I need to know. ;-)

Dude, I the last time I only paid five bucks for a cocktail was last summer when I was back home in Billings. I assume that complaint was in jest. I'm lucky to find a bourbon neat for at little as ten bucks here in Boston. And forget about L.A. Last time I was in that cesspool of a city the bartender told me my whiskey would be $20. In NYC its $10 to $15, and I'm not the type to hit up fancy joints.

Heck, I'd probably leave a five dollar tip if someone told me my drink was only five bucks and I'm in friggin' graduate school making next to zero money right now.

Five bucks. Sheesh, sign me up!

I've heard about $7 bottles of beer in other places along the coasts.. that to me is ridiculous. That pays for the 6 pack itself. Bars charge enough for drinks as is.

A 22oz warm beer at an NBA game is $9.00, quit whining over $5 drinks and your chance to name drop that you played Hold em with the coach... :lame:

Hell, I paid money to go to a Jay-Z concert about seven years ago and he pulled out so I paid to listen to people I never even heard of. If you go to sometjing enjoy it, no matter who cancels. Everything is expensive nowadays. For example I took my four year old to the home opener for our minor league baseball team this past Saturday:

2 tickets - $13
1 little beer- $5
1 hot dog - $3
1 pretzel - $3
1 Sprite - $2
1 Program - $3
1 Baseball- $4
1 Mini Baseball Bat - $5
1 Kids Baseball Cap - $20

But the time spent with my kid telling him about what was going on on the field is priceless. As gas rates, health insurance, and other items go up so will drinks.

Not to beat a dead horse :deadhorse:, but I'll throw my two bits :twocents: in...

I was born and raised in MT, and my friends moved away long before I did. I used to be suprised that they loved buying drinks back in Montana when they returned, they would buy round upon round with a smile on their face--because they said they couldn't believe how cheap the MT drinks where. They would tell me how expensive it was back east (New York, DC ect), and I couldn't believe them. Well I did of course, but it was certainly sticker shock for this Butte Rat.

Well as I think some on this board know, I moved to Vegas last summer. And I have experienced some of those ungodly price hikes. Not only do you regularly pay 7 to 11 dollars a drink in Vegas on the strip, but you are poked in the eyes :poke: (or anywhere else) with $20 to $30 cover charges just to get into the joints.

Needless to say I have seen the shake down of the american spirits drinker and I gotta say I don't like it. I anxiously await Sept when I will be back in Missoula (visiting for Griz games) and drinking barrel blended canadian whiskey or Irish whiskey for ony a few bucks!!! That my friends, is heaven. :drinking:
