MSU basketball player arrested, suspended

BOZEMAN -- Montana State point guard Frank Brown was arrested Tuesday morning on rape charges and was jailed on $20,000 bail.
Brown, 20, of Las Vegas, is charged with three counts of rape for having sex with a 15-year-old girl three times within the past week. The age of legal consent in Montana is 16.
The charges say the girl could not consent because of both her age and level of intoxication. In at least one instance, authorities say the girl was passed out drunk.
The girl told police Brown provided her with liquor and that she drank five shots.
Brown was suspended from the basketball team indefinitely, said Peter Fields, MSU athletic director.
In court documents, Bozeman police Detective Richard McLane said Brown admitted to having sex with the girl and knowing she was underage.
Justice of the Peace Scott Wychman set Brown's bail and scheduled a preliminary hearing for Dec. 3. He has not entered a plea.
Brown, a junior, played in all 27 of MSU's games last season and led Montana State with 16 points Monday night in a 69-61 overtime loss to Southern Methodist.
