Kicking game???

I think we all were scared this year about the kicking game but this!!!

Should the Griz just always go for it on 4th?

The kicking game sucks. It sucks so bad the fan on the field for the stupid Dickey's Barbeque promo made more field goals than the Griz. That Sucks.

Yup.....dismal, and it will cost dearly down the road and with NDSU soon we will need all points we can muster!

Kicking game..... Field goals are Terrible, punting game (distance, protection, operation time, etc ) are Terrible, return game is average. Overall special teams are far from special and will lead to losses if they don't duct tape it together and change strategy. That may mean going for it on fourth down or it may mean settling on a single kicker and put all the st staff energy into making that kicker a decent option.

Blame the kickers and special teams all you want but who got us to 4th down? Get the first. Perform on 1 - 3 and no need to worry about kicking. 4th down is for Canadians.

The kicking game issues rest on the shoulders of Delaney.
Didn't have kicking issues with prior coaches.
He should pick one and move on.
This is not that hard.

This is a horrible philosophy...

Early in the game we have 3-1. Spread, shotgun, incomplete. Miss the FG.

Quit being fancy, run the ball, get a 1st down.

Pretty simple. Kinda......

Disgusting. Since the spring I thought Sullivan was easily the best. Lider has never done the job and Greenberg has the weakest leg. All that said, I would never boo them. That bothered me.

We did have kicking issues under previous coaches. The thing is though, those coaches developed the kickers who struggled their Freshman & Sophomore years into damn good kickers by their Junior and Senior years. We seem to be stuck at the "Freshman" level still with no real progress being made.

Treat every series as a four down series.

There's this high school coach that almost never punts.

Good read

This is exactly it! Instead of continuing to develop the kicker to allow them to get better all Delaney does is pull them and doesn't let them kick, which in turn allows them to continue to suck

Totally agree. On our first possession, we run the ball down their throats. It is 3rd and one from deep in their territory. We decided to get cute and pass the ball on 3rd down, thinking we could always go for it on 4th down. Incomplete pass. Movement on the O-line. No points scored. Run the ball on 3rd down for a first down. Score TD. Go ahead 7-0.

I am not impressed with our play calling or design of our passing game. It seems like the only routes our WRs run are fly patterns and lateral-type swing passes. Where are the slants? Where are the middle screens? Where are the pick-plays to free-up receivers in the middle o the field? Where are the TE drag patterns?

We were 0-4 on fly patterns. Each one was totally covered. We need an offensive coach who understands the passing game.

I feel Lider should be entirely out of the running. He is so inconsistent striking the ball. He has the strongest leg, but just cannot be depended on.

Greenberg looks to have solid mechanics. I'm surprised he is not more consistent. His 1st miss against SD had solid distance, just went off the upright.

It looks to me that Sullivan is the most consistent. I'd like to see him get the opportunity to be the man. What don't the coaches like about him? Either way, the GRIZ better get it figured out, and ASAP!!!

I agree. In fact I think our kickers would do better without coaching. Some of these kids were good kickers prior to our coaching staff screwing them up.
