2 time New Mexico Player of the Year and 3 time state champion signed with the Griz today! Huge pickup for the Griz! he's 6'7, 200lb. Great size for a high school player. He will likely win NM POY again this year and his team is favored to win the state title yet again this year. The kid had a huge offer list. This kid will likely be a Day 1 player when he gets here next year. Go Griz!

I think the boys and girls--huge win over UDUB !!!, could make some noise this year !!!

And I think we are blessed to have Coach Travis DeCuire and long-time assistants Chris Cobb and Jay Flores. All"s Coach DeCuire has done at his alma mater for 10+ years is put together winning season after winning season after winning season and recruit great kids out of high school like Money Williams and Tyler Thompson and now the two-time NM POY and three-time NM state champ Christian Aguino next year and transfers like Malik Moore and Jay Pridgen. And his kids leave Missoula with their UM degree !!!

If Travis leaves tomorrow for greener, better-paying pastures, good--he will leave a proud legacy at his alma mater and I and every other Griz alum and fan will wish him the best !!! And if he stays longer and becomes the men's equivalent of Robin Selvig, even better--best !!!

I believe this staff is getting its recruiting mojo back, while also adding some much needed height.

Aquino looks like a great get with a lengthy list of offers but curiously not one from the New Mexico Lobos. It's often the case that good players slip away from right under the nose of bigger schools, with Exhibit A being Money Williams. I believe Money could play for any program in the country, let alone the Bay Area schools that apparently overlooked him.

And have you seen what Dalton Knecht did last night for the Lakers, 37 points, with 9 of 12 from deep? How this kid dropped to the Lakers in the draft is testimony to how often even NBA and NFL scouts get it wrong.

Yes, having a couple of first round NBA draft picks over the past few years helps recruiting. It isn't an end all, but it helps. It also helps having had a bunch with great careers outside of the country. All of that may get them in the door, but it's only part of the big picture, regarding the portal and NIL money. I suspect that the NBA will need to increase the pay levels for second round picks or some of those guys will simply make more staying in school.

That’s just nuts. The tail wagging the dog.

His size reminds me of Art Steward. If we can get that kinds of tenacity on D and nose for the ball as well as being a scoring machine, that would be phenomenal!
