I understand the rivalry and hate the kitties as much as anyone. But why is a loss to them the deciding factor in a renewal or not? I can see it being a factor in how long the extension is for. Bobcats are just another usual beat down game. KH should be and is likely looking at the overall health and progress of the program, or lack thereof, in making these decisions. It is the kittens who put everything into this game, probably because they have lost so many!
I don’t think you understand the rivalry at all. There isn’t any game as important as the Bobcat game. Did you go to UM?

So you'd rather go 1-10 with a win against the Bobcats than 14-1 with a national title and a loss against the Bobcats?
Hitown, the Bobcat game is the most important game of the year.

I don't believe that the Griz have to win for Stitt to keep his job, last year was a game he shouldn't have lost for sure. Cats are much better this year, and the Griz are too. If the Cats blow the griz out and beat us up and down the field, then I think this game might be his last. If the Cats win a close hard fought game, I believe he will be here next year. I've been on both sides of the fence on Stitt, it's pretty obvious watching the players, they are having lots of fun, you can see that they believe in the system. Much different than last year at the end of the year.

Incidentally in the last seven years the griz have only won 3 (officially.) Not exactly a beat down.............
Actually there are a lot of beatdowns; and not so balanced, huh?

'16 17-24
'15 54-35
'14 34-7
'13 28-14
'12 7-16
'11 36-10 (vacated)
'10 16-21
'09 33-19
'08 35-3
'07 41-20
'06 13-7

People hear what they wanna hear or perceive it in different ways. I thought Colter asked some pretty tough questions, and I heard the answers much different. I clearly heard Haslam say there's no way Stitt will be evaluated off of one game.

I also am glad he put to rest the rumors that started back in July and August from people "in the know" about a wins total that was given to him by Haslam. Haslam specifically said there was no such thing.
What would you expect him to say in public the week of the most important game of the year? None of what he said has anything to do with a HC decision after the season is over.

So your saying Kent lied to Colter and Gus in the interview? You're saying that when he said "I never told him he had to win X amount of games this year", he was lying to the guys and basically to everyone listening? It can't be one or the other. He said he never said that this year. Many posters this year claimed they had direct knowledge that Kent did give Stitt a win total he had to achieve for the season. In this interview, he actually stated that he did not do that this year. So, if people are claiming that happened, then they are calling Kent a direct liar in this interview.
No, what I'm saying is that you are one naïve dude.

First, who said it isn't a big, big rivalry game ilovekitties?
Second to Spanky, yes I did attend and graduate from UM. The rivalry is still bigger to the kittens. I get a kick out of the all the homemade shirts, etc. their fans wear at WA Griz. It is bigger for the kittens because they rarely win!

Granite-maybe it is a bigger game to the MSU people, I don’t know the answer to that. However, there is no bigger game to me....all the way back to 1959.

Haha, maybe I am. But the fact remains, IF you're calling me naive because I say I believe the statement Kent made on the radio, it doesn't change the fact that YOU are calling Kent a liar.

No I think they are saying your are naive because you clearly DO NOT understand that Kent made it clear he was waiting until the end of the season to make a decision and that he said several times that results on the field mattered as much as the good things off the field. The only result NOT in is the Cat Griz game and playoffs. Didn't say a thing about whether the game was more important to the Cats or nor how well previous coaches did. It would be naive if not plain ignorant to believe if he was waiting for those results, as he said he was, to think they didn't matter. Its clear they do - a lot.

The only thing I commented on was he cleared up the matter of whether or not he gave Stitt a win total he must achieve before the season started. People posted on here back in July that he did, but on the radio, he CLEARLY STATES that he did not.

Well, I’ve heard differently from a highly placed source....and really, he’s saying it without saying it by saying “on field results matter”...especially if he’s waiting for the outcome of this game to make his decision.

Wrong. Now you sound like a cat fan. I don’t care, as long as we’re in the playoffs and winning post season games. Now THIS year, it matters, because we need the game to GET to the playoffs....

Az....you are just a youngster. I think the play offs are important, but nothing is as important as Griz-Cat.

There’s a vast difference between “mattering” and being “the most important game of the year”...at least in my opinion.

Your above statement suggests that there are many years when it doesn't matter. Glad we could clear that up. Now, what game that we have had this year is more important?

I’ve been saying it all week. The guy has went off the rails.
I guess I can understand uttering those words if you live many states away and have never been to a cat/Griz...maybe

Well, if we’d beaten EWU and WSU then we wouldn’t be sitting wondering if we’re going to make the playoffs...so, one could argue THOSE games were more important. But, because of where we sit currently, THIS is the most important game of the year.
