Kemp?

What's the story on Kemp? I thought he had a four game suspension, so I expected him to play.

As said many time before. Has anybody been talked about more and mattered less in the history of EGriz?

Very strange.

While more and more freshmen are entering the fray, one senior – receiver Gerald Kemp – remains sidelined. Delaney is hopeful to have Kemp back in the fold soon.

“That process is still ongoing with the NCAA and until they’re finished, we’re not going to get a decision one way or the other,” said Delaney. “Initially it (the NCAA’s suspension) was four weeks and … there are still questions out there about things.

“I honestly don’t know what they are, but I do know that they have not come to a conclusion so that they can say, ‘Yes, he’s OK,’ or, ‘No, he’s not because of this, that or the other thing.’ We’re still in limbo on that.

“He still practices every day and hopefully, maybe in the next week or week and a half, something will come down the road. You just hope that he gets the opportunity to play games. But again, I don’t know what’s out there and I’m not sure Gerald knows. They have not talked to him in, gosh, almost a month now.”

Can somebody explain to me under what circumstances the NCAA suspends a player and the player's team doesn't seem to understand the suspension or when it ends? I'm assuming this is a grades thing, but the lack of knowledge expressed by Coach D seems somewhat incredible. Thoughts?

So if he doesn't play at all this year, due to some double top secret NCAA issue that doesn't get resolved until, let's say February '13. Could he possibly get another year of eligibility next year? It appears that he's listed as a RS Senior on gogriz roster. I'm guessing that's a red shirt senior, due to injury? He was a red shirt in '08 as well. If so, I wouldn't even play him this year.

Any semi-normal, knowledgeable insight would be greatly appreciated.

What I find incredible is the lack of urgency of the NCAA regarding one of their student athletes and his athletic career.

Truly pathetic.

I'm guessing Delaney knows more than he's letting on.

Me too. But what is more unthinkable is a head coach that does not know what the NCAA is doing with his yet-to-be annointed golden boy. I mean, SOMEONE on this coaching staff and Athletic Department should be head-bangin' the NCAA for some immediate answers instead of just accepting the shroud of confusion! C'mon coach!

It is obviously related to the ncaa investigation hence the lack of clarity from the ncaa and the university.
