Kellie Cole

With the way that she's played during the Big Sky slate, I honestly think that Kellie Cole should be in the starting five for Robin Selvig's club. She's been so productive off the bench and I just might begin to think that she should be averaging a little over 30 min/game. However, that might mean Torry Hill (easily one of my favorite players) would be demoted to the bench since she hasn't exactly been as productive as I thought she would be after last season. You can't take out Kenzie DeBoer because she's Montana's best perimeter defender, so the only player I can think of not being in the starting five at this point should be Hill.

Thoughts, anyone?

I was hoping that someone would step up this year, thinking that Kellie Cole had the potential: http://www.egriz.com/grizboard/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=53146" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ...but I still wonder about the heatlh report (bulging disc) reported earlier about Kenzie De Boer.

I think Kellie could easily be a starter, but many coaches don't start their top five. The old Celtic teams always used their second-best forward as first reserve, so that they had punch when subbing and their opponent was tiring (see the old Celtic teams when Havlicek was first off the bench).

I don't share your feelings about Hill. She is not a point guard. Her shooting this year has hurt the team more than helped. Her UNC game Thursday was horrible.

Tori was a scorer when she played for the Copperheads but they had so many offensive weapons, she should had more open looks. Even though she's made some big baskets for us, she's not aggressive enough and does not handle the ball well enough to make things happen at point. She's content to stay on the perimeter. Tori's shot is flat with no trajectory and is defendable against a quick man defense. If she was paired with Cole at point her offensive strength could be maximized.

Players like Katie Baker and to a lesser degree Sullivan have to find their own open looks. The former has a nice jumper and decent hops but always has hand in her face which doesn't make for offensive consistency.

Sullivan has really lost her confidence in what looking like a stellar Lady Griz career.
Thus against a tough man d she can't get a shot off.

That's where Cole comes in. She aggressive and has basically no fear anywhere on the court and would make an excellent point guard. Your turn. Go Lady Griz

I can't disagree with any of your points. Sometimes Tori looks like she actually fliches when a more agressive player comes at her. About once a game tho, she tosses up one of those running flat hooks that I never think have a chance, and to my surprise they go in.

Pre-season last year I thought Carly Selvig looked the better of the two neices. After her redshirt year she is really struggling except for some nice blocks. When I look at her this year, I have to wonder if any other BSC school would have offerred her a scholly.

And then Torry Hill goes off for 19 points for a career night. About time. 7 - 13 FG with 3 for 5 treys and 6 assists.

Maggie Rickman is another I think will be a fairly decent bb player for the LG; can't expect too much though for a true freshman but she seems to have what it takes to compete at the Division I level; along with Kellie Cole and Racherl Staudacher next year will form a pretty decent core for the future.

I am sure if you were coaching the LG you would have 1200 wins because you obviously are a better judge of talent than Selvig is.

Torry certainly played a complete game on Saturday. Man, she has a good looking jump shot.

I like Kellie as well. Robin has a good problem, if you will. He has a lot of ladies who deserve playing time. The future is certainly bright since they graduate only Ms. Ware this year.
