No, I am. Why I said I am somewhat skeptical is the price tag on the indoor facility at NDSU. It made my eyes get big. Something like $32 million. That is over twice what we spent on the Champions Center. You are right, we are in the top tier, but are we keeping up? Being a little skeptical is a good thing in my mind, because the bar is always moving. I guess we are trying, but I get it, money.
It all depends on what was included in the indoor facility there that another team may have outside. In my opinion of the indoor facilities I have toured they are all about the same. From what I learned they are rarely used and are accessible to all sports. The coaches I have spoken to dont practice in them if its just cold becasue they want the players acclimated to the cold. They would only use them in rain, snow etc, or if they were playing against a team in dome and for winter conditioning and rehab.
I went through what I would say is 2 full recruiting cycles and half a recruiting cycle with my son and all were on weekends of games but 2.
Out of High school we went on official visits to Western Kentucky, USF, UCF, Lehigh and App State. Out of Juco we went to Fresno State, Montana, Kentucky and Buffalo. Out of Montana we went to a couple of Big Sky schools, Tulane and Duquesne. I also went to camps with him during high school that included tours of the facilities at Miami, Florida Sate, Auburn, FAU too name a few.
Aside from indoor practice facilities the only places that I have seen that have better facilities are Auburn, Florida State and Kentucky with Kentucky being the best of all of them.
The new Montana Facilities are on par with or better than every other one that I have seen. If they do indeed get an indoor practice field they would in my opinion be better than all but he three above I mentioned.
Of the game day experience's of the official visits and the atmosphere, Montana was surprisingly the best of all of them.
Also I have seen a lot of previous threads or comments about fans leaving at half time and taking to long to get back back in at Montana. I dont think this is a Montana thing. Its a college football thing. The same thing occurred at everyone of the games we attended during official visits.
