Justin Ford—Defensive POY.

Well, like many on here have been saying all year, the difference between THIS defense and the defenses of the past four years is NOW we have the CB’s to run man coverage, freeing up the others to jailbreak blitz about 75% of the time….MacKay never knew what hit him….he was “done” about 10 minutes into the game. And Ford & Onu shut down their WR’s and it was never really a contest once that was established.

I can only think of a couple of balls thrown at Ford all game. One was an overthrow. Ford had the coverage and probably would have picked it if it had been on target. The other was a delivery sack that fell about 20 yards short of the receiver and five yards short of Ford. He basically took away half of the field from the Cats passing game, such as it was.

…dude made some incredible breakups…
…he is literally lighting in a bottle…
…man among boys out there…

8-)

I’m sure I’m stating the obvious, but shouldn’t Justin Ford be the defensive POY in the BSC?

Conference selections love bulk numbers. Tackles, sacks, TFLs. Could be an interesting thing to watch unfold because if they just like a boatload of stats you've got:

Troy Andersen, 113 tackles (conf best), 3 sacks, 9 TFLs, 2 INTs, 1 FF

Patrick O'Connell, 91 tackles, 13 sacks (conf best), 25 TFLs, 3 FF

Justin Ford, 33 tackles, 1 sack, 8 INTs, 2 fumble recoveries/1FF, 2 TDs

I know they like bulk numbers, but a shutdown corner is invaluable. Ford saved TDs and shortened the field a number of times. Will be very interesting.

TWENTY FIVE TFL’s. Unreal. is that NOT the conference best?
