I hope, for his sake, he becomes the greatest player we've ever had. These things tend to take a bit of time. I'll hold my opinion until I see how he stacks up once he's been here for a bit.
Man, ain't that the TRUTH. It took havre's boy until his 4th year to be on scholarship, and do something of merit at WR.
Like I correctly said, it took his 4th year to be on scholarship, and do something of merit at WR.
1st Year - No scholarship, 0
2nd Year - No scholarship, 0
3rd Year - No scholarship, 15 catches, 231 yards, 1 td
4th Year - Scholarship, 69 catches, 1,308 yards, 15 td
5th Year - Scholarship, 80 catches, 1,479 yards, 13 td
My recollection is Mariani started showing well earlier in his sophomore year, and then got an injury or nagging injury that seemed to slow him. Based on your schollie info, he got a scholarship following redshirt sophomore year.
On a different subject, based on the huge talent that some posters know Calhoun has, there's already a developing concern that he will exercise the 5th year/already graduated option, to move up to the Pac-12 for his redshirt senior year. Hopefully, Ash will be able to be able to cut off that avenue with the ncaa rules before Calhoun moves up.
