Best quote in the video, "I've actually heard that the Calhouns are now hosting their family reunions in the endzone, any truth to that?"

Jeremy Calhoun is by far the fastest sprinter of the Griz RBs, it's not even close.

The kid is going to be SPECIAL.

He's the best we've got at multiple positions even though we've not seen him even practice with the team, and we won't until August! Woo Hoo!

I hope, for his sake, he becomes the greatest player we've ever had. These things tend to take a bit of time. I'll hold my opinion until I see how he stacks up once he's been here for a bit.

Man, ain't that the TRUTH. It took havre's boy until his 4th year to be on scholarship, and do something of merit at WR.

Justin Calhoun (So): 2013 Outdoor 24.32a
Jeremy Calhoun (So): 2013 Outdoor 23.35a

Am I in the track and Field forum?

Didnt think so

Since track is all about explosion, track times are highly relevant.
Track times mean virtually nothing on the football field. Sorry you will never convince me of that since track guys always suck playing football.

Now go make a list.....

Alph you make me laugh, I will give you that. :thumb: But Hershell Walker would probably disagree with you:

Track and field[edit]

Walker also competed as a sprinter at Georgia, where he was a two-time All-American selection. He was a member of the SEC champion 4x100m relay squad in 1981.[7] He run the 100 meters in a PR 10.10 seconds in 1982 and improved his high school 100-yard dash time of 9.5 to 9.3 seconds. He also competed in the 55-meter dash in 1983, recording a then-world record time of 6.11 seconds.[8]

He also competed in the 1992 Winter Olympics in two-man bobsled, paired with Brian Shimer, where they finished seventh with a time of 4:03.95 minutes.[9]

Most sought after HS recruit in the nation.

College career[edit]

NCAA Football
Heisman Trophy (1982)
Maxwell Award (1982)
Walter Camp Award (1982)
SN College Football Player of the Year (1982)
UPI College Football Player of the Year (1982)

Consensus All-American (1980, 1981, 1982)
Florida–Georgia Hall of Fame
College Football Hall of Fame inductee (1999)

Minnesota Vikings (1989–1991)
Philadelphia Eagles (1992–1994)
New York Giants (1995)
Dallas Cowboys (1996–1997)

Track does help your recruiting. Coaches like guys who can sprint, run hurdles, and jump for obvious reasons. It especially helps bigger guys profile when they can show that they are more than a big body and display some athleticism on the track.

Saying that, I don't put a ton of stock on 100 or 200 yard dash times as a measuring stick of football talent, even for skill players and DBs. If that was true, that kid from CMR from a couple years ago would be in the NFL right now and the Kupp kid would be counting jock straps at Sports Authority. The 40 yard shows a better measure of how explosive a recruit is speed wise and even that metric only provides a small portion of the player's abilities.

Just my 2 cents...

Yep, BINGO :!: Oregon loved that 6'6" DE Cody Carriger (Butte, Class AA) placed in 6th place at the MHSA State Championship 100 meter dash in 2012 with a fast time of 11.31. Hence, the scholly.

Carrigers 11.31 would have been good for 1st in Class A, 2nd in B, and 1 in C.

Man, ain't that the TRUTH. It took havre's boy until his 4th year to be on scholarship, and do something of merit at WR.
No Mariani was a stud as a junior also.

Mariani was a stud before he arrived at UM. It just took that long to figure it out!

While I don't disagree with you, but 2 months ago you said this ,"RBs next year may be another weak link. The only returners we have capable of playing at a high level are Favors and MAYBE Counts." Which would imply Favors is better then Counts... Just sayin

I think that Favors will fit perfectly into this offense, along with Counts. Two different backs for different situations.

So I am consistent? :coffee:

Favors right now is all hype and good on paper. Time to show us something.

Hopefully we can keep the Poly pipeline flowing. Lots of underclassmen that would look great in Griz colors in years to come.

The slightly older of the two Calhoun twins, Jeremy was Poly’s star running back for most of the year ...
Slightly older?

Two months? Five months older? Hopefully at least nine months ...?

Like I correctly said, it took his 4th year to be on scholarship, and do something of merit at WR.

1st Year - No scholarship, 0
2nd Year - No scholarship, 0
3rd Year - No scholarship, 15 catches, 231 yards, 1 td
4th Year - Scholarship, 69 catches, 1,308 yards, 15 td
5th Year - Scholarship, 80 catches, 1,479 yards, 13 td
