Just another thing for Griz fans to ponder.

I hope to god they don't build on the River Bowl area. That really is a nice open area. It'd be a shame to see that closed off and developed solely for athlete use.

It would be built where the current practice field are, which is already being used for athletics

I would imagine it would take up more space than just the fenced off practice field, thus impacting some of the intramural space. That being said, I think there is space for some rearranging and creativity with those parking lots as well as the tailgate spaces right outside of the North Endzone. They could easily put an intramural field or two over there to compensate if they did lose one or two. This is one building I would hate for them to scale down at all. It has the potential to be a game changer for nearly every sport the Griz Athletic Program fields.

I have noticed a few comments in this thread, and from a few prominent boosters or former players on Twitter very concerned about this, like it is an immediate sign we are falling behind. Don't get me wrong, this is a great plan for MSU and if they are able to coordinate and raise the money for this twenty year plan, that is only terrible if we simultaneously do nothing.

The first phase is a $16 million project that more or less gets them a Champions Center and an athlete academic center. There are also significant stadium improvements on top of that, some of which bring them in line with us and some of which may be upgrades, especially in the press box and suites department I would imagine.

My point is, we are still in a very good place and rather than panicking, perhaps we as fans should figure out a way to help build excitement and progress on the indoor practice facility, which is honestly the only thing in that entire mast plan that would really be a contrasted game changer with UM if they get it done before we do.

Honestly, I think it is great that MSU is attempting to make these additions. While I always want to see the Griz doing better than the Cats, seeing the other major in-state program do well is good for everyone and lead to the desire to always improve the program.

As long as our admin, athletic department, boosters, and fans are up to continuing the arms race, I agree. Unfortunately we need the students and their money to keep up in the future. Continued support and focus on excellence in the athletic department needs to happen. Without boosters and fans supporting this (spending money) we could be way behind for years to come. Hope it doesn't happen, but we need to step it up.
Funds coming into the GSA are down for the year.

It all started to decline with Engstrom. It's amazing how much damage one person can do. Had heard several times that when Shannon Schweyen interviewed with him for the head job, he asked her if she had played for the Lady Griz. Confirmed this story with another former LG and someone from the athletic department.

I wish we had a "face palm" emoji....that's bad. Thank god he is gone. Hope the next prez is at least somewhat into athletics and realizes the immense positives that come from a strong athletic department.

PR " when Shannon Schweyen interviewed with him (royce, little r ) for the head job, he asked her if she had played for the Lady Griz."

No seriously, he couldn't have been that stupid.....could he ?

Key differencece, too. This is a plan, a wish list if you will. They may get half of it done or all of it done and it may take a very long time. We've already made some huge improvements that are already built.

This! The other BSC schools march these plans out every fall and they never amount to anything. They're like crappy Halloween sequels. This msu plan is Gatewood II: The Meowing

He took THE University of Montana and drove it into the ground. He made us the laughing stock of Montana higher education. He did all of this coming off record growth for UM. Yes, he is either that stupid or.....he was sent by msu and Clay C. to destroy our university. Dun dun duuuuunnn. :o

(Kidding about the last part. Maybe.)

Engstrom isn't gone. He is now a professor and continues to be a leech of UM.

I must admit going from 5 Honeybuckets to 10 was marked capital improvements! :|

Au contraire, Bodnar made it clear that he wants a strong provost to make up for his lack of experience in higher education. You can't make this stuff up.

Ha! Remember when the EWU Gotwood Project pivoted to building a stadium on Earl and Ann Marie's farm adjacent to "campus"? Pepperidge Farm remembers.

Bodner's lack of experience in higher education very certainly worries me.

What does that gain him. How does having that knowledge assist him in running the business? And make no mistake, it IS a business. Engstrom had higher ed experience and was an abysmal failure...

Agreed. One's ability to make a really good bowl of chili says nothing of his ability to run a restaurant.

Geez, I read your post quickly CDA and thought you typed "run TO a restaurant" and I was temporarily confused as to why we were suddenly discussing the UNDSUers.

Haha! I do apologize for the confusion, but don't let all of those UNDSUers fool you. Some of them have fast-twitch muscles buried under those layers o' lard. I was in West Fargo on business once. I didn't want to go, but I was the only one in the office who could fake that stupid fuck accent. Anyway, I was there in the Sam's Club parking lot when some idiot falsely announced a grand opening of a Cracker Barrel across the street. Maybe it was a YouTube stunt, but I saw miracles! People got out of their mobility scooters and sprinted. It was like seeing Kevin James reluctantly run out a grounder at a celebrity softball game. You know he can do it, but he generally chooses not to.
