Junior to the 49ers!!

Guy Haberman, who does Big 10 play-by-play and is one of the bigger 49ers content guys (used to cover the WAC when Bobby was coaching at UNLV) interviewed coach Hauck about Junior, and it had a lot of cool insights.

Junior is signed now for 4 years $4.3m
This is a little misleading. That's basically his contract if he makes the team. As of right now, the Niners can cut him and owe him nothing but what they will pay him to show up for training camp. If he gets cut, but makes the practice squad, he'll get substantially less than that.

John Lynch is also somewhat familiar with Da GRIZ through his former starting MLB and GRIZ great Brock Coyle !!! What I am trying to say is through his experience with Brock, John Lynch knows UM kids like Junior and Nick aren't afraid of hard work and are going to leave it all on the field !!! ( And I wouldn't rule out Brock also talking up Junior and Nick to his old boss !!! )

Even if he makes the team in training camp he can still be cut at any point with this contract.

Yes, but if he makes the 53-man roster, his base salary of $840,000 is guaranteed. Until and unless that happens he has no guaranteed money other than what he earns during camp ($2,000 per week). I just don't want Griz fans that don't know how NFL contracts work to think he's signed for 4 years already and will get all of that $4.3M.

He has his signing bonus of around $101,000 guaranteed so far. I am pretty sure if he makes the 53 man roster but then gets cut later that week he still would not get any more of the $840,000 base salary, that is only guaranteed if he is on the team all 17 weeks of the season.

Players get paid a per diem amount for the time they are in pre-season camp. They also get paid pro rata during the season. 1/18 per week. They also get paid a reduced amount while on Injured Reserve.

No, NFL salaries for a given year are guaranteed for a payer as soon as he makes the 53-man roster on week 1, even if he had no guaranteed money on his deal.

So if he's on the roster on week 1, he gets all of that $840,000. If he gets cut 2 weeks later, he still gets the $840,000. If he gets cut before the regular season and makes the practice squad, he'll make his guarantee of $101,000, plus about $225,000 for being on the practice squad all season.

In order to make the full $4.3MM in his contract, he'll need to make the team every year because he has no other guaranteed money on his deal as of right now (and if he does well, he'd probably get a new contract before this one runs out).

You may want to double check what I bolded above.
