described by her coach as a "utility" player...

That was accurate. She has had 2 nice games against teams that Stanford shouldn't even schedule. She is exposed when teams like UConnn come calling. I love that girl, but the reality is on that team she is a utility player. If she had played in the BSC she would have had an incredible career. The thing that I like best about her is she knows there is more than just basketball in life. The Education she is getting is second to none, she has a man in her life, and she has been to some amazing venues as part of a great team. Tara wasn't dissing her, just answering a question. Citay starts flaming in 5...4....3...

nice post! i agree completely. thoreau said the world is far wider than our view of it, and joslyn has obviously expanded her world view immeasurably by attending stanford, while making life-long friends. as a fan, i'm extremely proud of her.

The more you agree with me, the smarter you look. Keep it up. :thumb:

Tinkle started last night, her second start of the season. For the season, Tinkle is 4th in scoring (31-64), 3rd in rebounding, 1st in blocks, 6th in minutes, 15-16 in free throws (best on the team for those with more than a few free throws), and 3-8 from 3-pt range.

In the win against UConn last season, she had a terrific game, including playing tough defense on the UConn star (Maya Moore). A friend of mine with court side season tickets told me that Tinkle was one of the keys to that win. She played 19 minutes (tied for 5th), scored 6 points (3 for 7), had 5 rebounds, and had the only block of the game. Inexplicably, she didn't play against UConn in the final four game. She started 9 games last season.

Watch out Iron - I have mentioned this before - It should be in the Sports Forum, has nothing to do with Griz or Lady Griz! Mods?

She got a start because regular starter freshman Taylor Greenfield sat out due to a sore hamstring. Tinkle returned to the bench last night for the conference opener against USC and logged 8 minutes playing time.

Against USC, in 28 minutes, Greenfield had 2 points, 1 rebound, 3 turnovers and 4 fouls.

Against UCLA today, Greenfield, the starter, and Tinkle each played 15 minutes.

Greenfield had 2 points on 1-3 shooting and no rebounds--as well as an assist and turnover.

Tinkle had 9 points on 4-7 shooting and 4 rebounds--as well as a block, steal and turnover.

Greenfield must either be a great defender, or she is going to lose her starting spot.
