It is interesting...Sounds like Erickson was making a push for the head coach there, and would bring Smith along as the coach in waiting, and Oregon State basically cut out the middleman

Looked like a done deal for Baldwin last week, but I think Smith is a really good choice, I think he’s going to be a really good coach

Agreed. Sounds like he is either going to have Erickson or Riley, but not both, as a consultant on his staff. Wonder if Beau at least makes an attempt at Arizona State now?

Maybe, it’s probably a better job than Oregon State…

Unfortunately I think Baldwin is still battling the failure of Paul Wulff at Wazzu And schools are hesitant to pull the trigger on him…

Just my opinion ASU has much more potential than OSU. ASU is a place I think a good coach could be successful and build a program.

Jonathan Smith is to Oregon State like Dave Dickenson is to Montana. I follow both schools religiously (grew up a beaver but went to UM) and to see BOTH schools make home run hires gladdens my heart. Coach Smith has a much steeper Hill to climb than Hauck, but I have faith that he, like Hauck will get the job done. It’s also cool that Smith is a Griz and called out Robin Pflugrad as one of the great influences in his life. Once a Griz, always a Griz!
