Johnson - Passing Efficiency Rating - 190.3

One game doesn't make a season, but I really liked Lucas Johnson today. 4 TD's, and no interceptions.

Calm in the pocket. Terrific runner. You could tell he has played in a running offense, like Georgia Tech. Efficient. Almost no mistakes. Didn't seem to take needless chances. Threw the ball away when he should. Ran out of bounds without taking a hit, after making first downs.

190.3 passing efficiency. Very high. Humphrey 142 for season. Sneed 143.9 and 137.6. Jensen 148, Phillips 149. Gustafson 141.5 and 122.5. JJ 135.6 (I didn't look at his earlier stats, think he had a 150 year).

He played awesome and balled out. People trying to be critical of his performance and abilities and accuracy based on today are fricken clueless. And...we got to see see Britt run around and throw some strikes and get his chance. In the bigger picture QB position is as good as anyone could have hoped for at this point, imo.

Hauck: “I didn’t tell him this, but first quarter he threw a couple really nice passes and then he took off and ran for a first down, and I just said, ‘Man, we got the right guy in the program,’” Hauck said after a dominant 47-0 victory. “I hadn’t seen him play a live game since high school, probably (his) junior year in high school, so it’s been a long time. I’m glad he’s with us.”

“He’s got a lot of experience coming from San Diego State,” Laird said. “It may be a new experience with a new team, but it’s definitely not a new experience for him playing on Saturday afternoons. I thought he controlled the game.

“I felt comfortable, just real comfortable with the offense we have,” Johnson said. “I mean, we have so many playmakers and we have a really good line, so it’s just my job to get them the ball. So, it makes my job really easy.”

“Montana, they’re a very power run team, very disciplined O-line, good running backs,” NSU linebacker Race Moser, who had a game-high 10 tackles, said. “The top offenses we’re used to going against (in the Southland Conference) are very spread, tempo, just like ours. That’s what we’re very accustomed to is teams speeding it up and getting it out to the edges. Montana, they just ran it right down us. It was a big adjustment.”

Haven't seen the game yet (love you WallytheBronco, Monday please) was busy helping my buddy put his restaurant back together after renos. Wouldn't have mattered you can't see that games up here and the GoGriz media feed was slower than a waiter in Fargo with four gallons of gravy heading for the all you can eat shrimp.

So how much running by Lucas was designed pre snap? How much was on the fly?

On the fly but calculated.

Creative bail outs with speed on the edge and advantageous but not dangerous when checking down.

At least what I saw.

So like a designed roll out or sprint draw out of zone read. Check down and then evaluate? That's awesome. JJ ran a lot of that in 2011, kills coverage because it makes them react instead of read.

Today Lucas played like the big-time QB that I expected him to be!!! What a stud, he's on a whole 'nother level.

It was good to get a glimpse of Britt's quick release that we've heard so much about. Quicker than quick. And great presence, looked like he belonged there.

Agreed. I’ve been singing Sunshine’s praises since getting a closeup of him during warmups at the Griz/Scat game last year. He’s gonna be a fun one to watch the next two years.

I was amazed at his accurate passing, his poise, and his good decision making. He still has some growing to do, but his future is bright.

I like his gameplay if we have a lead to keep. Not sure it works with a come from behind scenario, hopefully that doesn't lead to putting the burden solely on the run game.

Interesting, please elaborate.

Britt should have thrown the ball away on his scramble towards the Griz bench. Had plenty of time to get rid of it. Lost about 5 yards, I think.

I dont understand what you are saying Bertram? I would assume if it was a tight game or if Griz were behind the playcalling and Johnsons play would be different.
Sorry for missing your point.
