I am Joey’s sister, currently I am trying to retire his jersey number at his high school as he did a lot for the school (breaking records and returning as a coach after UM) and became a local fire fighter. As many of you know he passed away last November (2024). This is something I have been wanting to do for him as his name is still talked about even a decade later at the school. I used to lift with Joey once in a while at Golds. He was good friends with my daughter. I absolutely signed.
 
Done. I was at the NDSU game 6 rows up in the SEZ directly above where Joey leaped over the Bison defense for the win. The crowd went nuts, the atmosphere wasn't just electric, it was atomic.
 
Signed and gladly did so. Your brother will always be remembered by us Griz fans. The TD against the Bison was something that will remain in my mind until the day my numbers called! Thoughts with you and your family.
