Former Weber St. Head-Coach was the the Color Commentator (Huge Understatement) for the NoDak/Griz Mens game yesterday on the Eleven Sports Channel. Good Ole Boy Joe had to be Corn-fed on a farm somewhere in Americas Great Heartland... Here's one of his quotes that inspired me to write this ...

"That Kid has more moves than a Red-Head has Freckles"

Keep em going JOE!

Corny Joe. But he's among the best basketball color announcers in the biz. He's objective and views the game (which he obviously loves) with a wide lens. His humor adds spice to his astute analysis.

As soon as he said that I thought of "Down the pickle barrel". Similar styles.

I like his analysis, but for me, his corny sayings take away from it. A few well-timed ones would be funny but after awhile it becomes a distraction.

And I wish he'd dance at some point.

Pretty sure it was defensive reference.. "Oguine's all over him, like freckles on a redhead".

Can only guess what you might have to say about Bill Walton

The Joe Cravens dance was indeed one of the best dances in all of college basketball...

I'll have to check with Steve...

You should also check with Miguel Oguine and Jamar Akor... they might have input.

Seriously though I like Cravens. Very knowledgeable and as grizzlyjournal said he obviously loves the game. I thought he was entertaining and pretty good at pronouncing names too, which most aren't when it comes to Krslovic, Oguine and Akoh. The other guy was good too but damn he just renamed people as he went along until Cravens corrected him by pronouncing the name right. I bet when they cut the camera away (while the other guy was interviewing "Steve" DeCuire) Cravens slid the program over to the other guy and frantically pointed at the name "TRAVIS" so he'd stop calling DeCuire "Steve".

Always wondered why people struggle with Akoh's name... We've heard Akor, Akoy (seriously?!) and a few other pronunciations this year.. I get people struggling with Oguine, but Akoh doesn't seem too difficult yet it's consistently butchered.

Dancin Joe was a beauty! (great find, Poto)

One of the Weber fans on their board as it in his signature. Saved it a while back since it's hilarious. I'm guessing at that moment Cravens was not a fan of the Big Sky refs and their ineptitude...

Now if I only had a video of the low-walk-knee-drag-stepping that Coach Krystkowiak did a couple times in disgust when he disagreed with calls.

The three comments he made that I remember are:
I can't remember what he was referring to, but "Since Moby Dick was a minnow."
When talking about the physicality of Akoh "He's the tallest hog at the trough."
Lastly, I believe he was referring to Seales getting lucky bounces on his shots "He must have tipped the preacher well last night".

Funny dude. :D :D :D :D :D
