JMU thought

I would totally take this year of ours over an equivalent bowl game that JMU played. Sorry if I wasn’t clear about that. I’m talking about the lesser years where we’re not one of two left standing (the majority of seasons for any program). Thats why I brought up MSdUi. I guarantee they’d be stoked to play in the Skeeter’s Breathalyzer Bowl against whatever state that isn’t a state right now instead of nothing.
The end of the year is not the only consideration for fans. Our regular season could be so much better.

100% agree.

A poll! Have any of you actually done a 'poll'? Whom are you polling? Does my opinion weigh as much as Dennis Washington's? Lots of factors to consider here. Good arguments on either side.
JMU made a big stink, got the game it wanted, and got what deserved. Beware what you wish for.

Totally agree. They had a great season in a higher division than ours and made a bowl game in year two. If we polled their fans, I wonder how many would trade this JMU season for an FCS Championship appearance. It would be an interesting poll (pole).

I, for one, would vote for the FCS championship (semis & finals).
By a mile

I take our season with the playoff run every time. I get that other people feel different, and nobody is wrong. It is subjective. But I would never, ever trade a playoff run for a bowl. And this playoff run really doesn't mean any less to me because other schools have moved up

Sure, I take THIS season and it’s playoff run, but what about all the seasons in between this one and 2009?

I love that JMU had success

Hopefully NDSU & Montana gets a joint invite to Mountain West and leave our loser little brothers behind

... Losing a head coach to Indiana of all places has to sting. Losing that coach before your first bowl game has to be demoralizing.

Can’t wait for the Big Ten to give old Cignetti a wonderful 10-20 start in Hoosierville, before he ends up coaching at another irrelevant school.
It happens we recorded the JMU-Air force game and decided to watch it today. Something we hadn't realized: Not only did Cignetti leave (for almost $3 million more than he was making at JMU), he took most of his assistants with him. The OLine coach who took over as interim had to cobble together a staff in a hurry. So much for all those extra practices the NCAA allows.

FWIW: Before the bowl game, JMU hired a new head coach (Bob Cesney from Holy Cross), but he was apparently only an observer during the bowl game ... although he had already jumped into their recruiting efforts.

Under the circumstances, I'd say the Dukes put up a pretty good show.

My JMU thought: they went 11-2 and lost thier final game. Not to fucking shabby for their first year moving up.

If we don’t beat SDSU, we’ll have gone 12-2 and lost our final game.

Yeah and nobody gives a shit or even knew jmu played that game. Meanwhile Griz nation is making a pilgrimage to Texas for everyone to celebrate together.

This is more fun

Took quite a few players too!

I have seen two post season games where teams with excellent records played against a triple option offense for the first time this season, and they both got whopped. Shades of Wofford if you remember that semi-final game (with Kroy Biermann at DE). Colorado School of Mines (Stitt U.) the reigning NCAA Div. II champion was playing a school from Arkansas named Harding for the championship. Mines took the opening kickoff for a length-of-the field drive to score and went up 7 zip. Final score Harding 38 Mines 7. The triple option was pretty much unstoppable.,

I have wondered, with three weeks to prepare, if we or SDSU will pop that into their/our playbook. I imagine SDSU will just stick with what works but who knows?

And nobody knows the Griz are making a pilgrimage either…not sure of your point here.

Everyone in Montana and Idaho and Wyoming and the Dakotas know. In other words our peers.

Montana and South Dakota sure.,

Everyone from idaho and wyoming, i can't imagine too many people from Idaho would care even a little bit and I would guess most from Wyoming would care even less than that.

In Wyoming they barely know what FCS football is. They are all about the FBS.

I guess I just don’t get the hate. They sold out every single game (except the last one against Bucknell) (so apparently someone cared). They beat Troy, Utah State and Virginia…ALL on the road. They went 11-1 and were ranked 24th in the country at season’s end. There were almost 31,000 people at their bowl game which they admittedly struggled in after losing their coach and most of his staff to Indiana before the game.

All in their 2nd year of transition. I’d say their future is bright (even thought they lost their asshole of a coach).

I think you're vasssttttllllly overestimating the knowledge sports fans have of fcs football. I'd be shocked if 10% of rabid sports fans in Wyoming could tell you who is playing in the fcs championship. Hell, I'd be shocked if 50% of them could tell you there IS an fcs championship.
