COLORS:
It's a good time to make a change. And a change toward the true heritage.
The colors were initially recorded as Copper, gold and silver to reflect the same 'official colors' as the state of Montana. A half century or more ago the dye makers could not efficiently produce the copper color, so maroon was adopted (maybe someone knows why maroon). But in the 60's (?) it was found the copper color could be made easily and so they arrived at the copper (burnt orange)/ gold (yellow) look. Dennison's wife thought they were ugly and so UM went back to maroon/silver. My personal opinion- the yellow w copper was garish at best. I'd go Copper (darker than the old burnt orange) and bright silver. No yellow. No black. No maroon.
But, of course, who really cares about uniforms when the shit is hitting the fan.
MOVING ON: IMHO, the Griz will be very good in football next fall, playing for the BSC title and going deep into the playoffs. Unless offensive lineman start being expelled, the team will be just fine. It's true that no team loses a good starting QB and doesn't feel some effects, However, the way the O line was playing at the end of last year a lot of QB's would have looked pretty good. And, next fall, barring serious O line injury will be the same except even more dominant. If you must lose a starting QB, this is the best offense in which it can happen. Also, these are 18-23 yr old kids who are oblivious to most the stuff that the oldsters on this site obsess over. They will play with a chip on their shoulders and probably be MORE focused than had all this not happened.
Also, IMHO, McKinney is more talented than JJ. I'd start him and very shortly JJ will be a distant memory. Yes, the beginning of the season will be a little rough. But after a few games, the UM will be a better offensive team than last year.
